It's 2005, in 1993 I bought Nine Inch Nails' "Broken", and had a strange experience because I was curious about the hidden tracks that were labeled at the bottom of the inlay card. What I did was unscrew the tape and took the reel out, then cut it 3/4 into the last of the songs on the A-side. I reversed it on one side and scotch taped it back together. It revealed 2 tracks only backwards. I had to take it one more step and ( yeah funny, laugh.gif "Fix" it ) so I could hear them. I did that, and got the eventual Adam Ant cover song, and the "Pigface" cover song "Suck".

I was wondering if anyone else found out, because later on in life I bought the same album and got nothing. Even tried it on "Fixed" and there was nothing.

Gave the original away to a woman I had a crush on, with no response. (What can you do though, right?).

I guess no one heard of it (or you won't admit to it), I was thinking there were only a few thousand made. I wrote a letter to N.I.N. about it afterwards.(no response). Anyway, it is the mini-c.d. in the "Broken" c.d. that contains the songs.

IF you do have the tape and you bought it the first time it came out, you might still find it there if you havent tried it yet. It's just a suggestion. I just know they don't make them anymore though...

If theres any instructions you need, just ask me.. I'll rephrase them...

You just have to flip one reel over, and tape it up again..

I noticed there was a "TReznor72" around here, any comments? >by the way Happy Birthday!

.....well, I guess no one heard of it, so - if you bought the copy the day it came out- you never know if you still have one or not - thanks for reading anyway.

[i]*Now I'm starting to think I was the only one* unless that one *chick* can get back to me here.* Your pretty quiet out there for 80 something readthroughs.. I don't think Trent Reznor is gonna mind if at least one person 'found' it...

You know I figured it out because he left the B-side empty, so something was up with that because thats where the songs were.

I wasn't aware they were backwards i thought they were just hidden tracks. Because on mine i can just hear it normally but have to wait or fast forward to the end of the tape.. But i have most NIN stuff they have out. Exept their new stuff. When i heard it i was like omg what the hell is this crap. But i bought Broken like wayyyyy back in the day so i should try to splice it and see what comes up lol its ok if i wreck the tape now as i have the cd too. But thanks for the info. thumbsup.gif

You are correct, only a few tapes, and CDs had these hidden tracks. I never heard any one having to cut the tape.

The coolest hidden tracks I have ever came across was the X-Files CD, the first one. To get to the hidden tracks, you would have to hit play on the first track, then hold the rewind button down. It would rewind past the first song, and there were 2 hidden songs in front of track one. It was a werid cool type thing

Are you saying you found the two tracks on side B "normally"- as in 'forwards'?. What happened to mine was the B side was empty, and I unscrewed it and took the reels out and flipped them over, then heard it backwards. Then I had to literally cut the tape and flip one reel over and reattatch it. Thats what I mean though. I ended up buying another one and it wasn't there anymore.

*You won't have to wreck the tape if you use scotch tape and really carefully 'tape' the tape back together. I had trouble a few times but I eventually got it. * It was my old method for fixing tapes anyway when they were broken from too much use or the player ate it up.*

I must have been the first... now that *chick* out there is, if she didn't throw it away.

If there is a woman out there by the initials of C.S.(no offense in calling you a chick), and you still have this cassette, and your reading this or watching - could you please see if you can get it back to me. It's extremely important that I get that back, I wanted to send it to Trent Reznor. If you remember in 93, I gave it to you indirectly in an unmentioned 'food sydicate' establishment where you worked -with a note- I didn't know if you recieved it or not.

If you still have it, please, please, see if you can at least send it to me if you don't care to see me personally about it ( that's o.k. ). Thanks. (Maybe I'm wasting my time I don't know.).

To:Agajsfairy- It was backwards after I found it, I had to reverse it. She's (cs) got it - I want it back- I'll pay a fair price.
~TheArtOfContact~
I mean it you know.... I cut it and turned it around and scotchtaped it back- it was recorded backwards. That is the rarest of the rare. IF anyone has any information, please say something. I was thinking Trent Reznor did that to see if he could get someone to "figure it out". He may have made 100 of them, and I got the first one before I "gave it away". It could be a free ticket to a show, a backstage pass - and a meeting with the guy. ph34r.gif

O.K Trent!!!! You got my letter, it's her fault if she wont give to me. She'll probably take it to the grave for all I know. I'll talk to you sometime.
