Both my parents are from Finland, so I've got Formula 1-watching in my genes. I grew up cheering for Mika Häkkinen, now I'm cheering for Kimi Räikkönen (who's really good and really unfortunate what with his cars breaking down every so often angry.gif ).
With just a few races left of the season Alonso's in the lead and he'll probably win, provided that he doesn't abort every single race from now on while Kimi, who's in second place, wins.
Oh well, as long as Michel Shumacher doesn't win I'm happy. I don't like him. disgust.gif

So, any other F1 fans in here?

And yes, I'm watching F1 'cos I like the sport, not 'cos there's any cute guys involved. I've never seen a cute F1 driver...

Alonso is world champion YAY!!

To be honest he deserves it, he has been pretty consistant, plus i'm always glad when someone other than Michael Shumacher wins!!

I reckon Kimi Räikkönen will win it next year!!

I also watched the new A1 racing that just started on sky satellite where they have a sprint race for qualifying then the main race where all the cars are exactly the same making it drivers skills that win races and not just because one car is faster than the rest!

Thumbs up for motor sport thumbsup.gif

Good on yer, Alonso. But watch yer back next year, 'cos then it's Kimi's turn!
He's been so close two seasons now, but his car's been breaking down too many times... I hope McLaren fixes that till next season, or else! devil.gif

A shy Finnish guy who can't talk properly but that's ok, 'cos when he's having a good day he's a demon on the track, known as Iceman. He's finished second two years in a row now, with a maximum amount of bad luck this year, so next year, be warned!

But I'm crying.gif now. The tv channel that's been showing the F1 series for years here in Sweden has sold the rights, so I won't be able to watch the next year's championships!

Plans for 2006 apparently include scrapping both the third - or test - cars and t-cars, having just 12 men on pit crews, as well as introducing a new qualifying format.

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is anxious to bring in a new format which would see ten cars knocked out after the first 30 minutes of the session. Those cars would fuel up for the race and the remainder of the field would then fuel up for the race, run another lap, before being topped up again. Simple stuff.
engines rules are still under planing thumbsup.gif

I personally think Bernie Ecclestone is overated as a F1 boss. He's never raced professionally ever and wouldnt have a clue to what REAL racing is about. He;s turned it into a sport where money is the only reward. Although many ohter sports are anyway

I think the new wave is the A1 series, with countries racing against each other.
NO Bullshit money problems with tyres and extreme internal team problems.
ALL CONTROL Tyres, engines, body panels, raw chassis etc

I enjoy racing on all levels, whether it be go-karts to motorbikes, but when someone's main motive is just to make $$$$ and not to show a decent race series that the fans can enjoy and also be involved, he's not the top of my list of F1 head bosses.

Thats my opinion
