It's true and you know it. Some of your favorites movies aren't exactly Oscar winners. In fact, you probably preface anything about one of these films with something like, "Well, I know it's really not very good, but..." or "Ok, don't think any less of me, but I really love..." You know what I mean. yes.gif

So anyway, what are some of your favorite "don't judge me on these" movies? The guilty pleasures?

For example, a few of mine would be:

Evolution- Yeah, it's got CRAPPY special effects and a silly, silly plot, but who cares? I laugh, and I laugh a lot at it. It's got a giant sphincter at the end for crying out loud! w00t.gif

She Creature- I can sum this movie up in one phrase: man-eating mermaid. Kick ASS. Actually it's not a bad film, just not very well-known. Anyone interested in a good, atmospheric creature feature (or a little lesbian-tension between Carla Gugino and a mermaid) would do well checking this out.

Zoolander- I will argue this one, but I guess I can see how some people would think this is not funny. I always hear, "But they don't look like models. They are just stupid!" and I realize that the person to whom I am speaking is terminally unfunny and I need to stop wasting my time with them.

Ok, your turn!
Yelekiah
lol, I love Zoolander. May is a strange indie film I'm sure not too many have heard of. But that commentary is hilarious. I'm also ashamed to admit I liked Queen of the Damened. Awful movie but the special effects were fun.
snuffypuffer
Dude I dug the hell out of Evolution! They killed the aliens with dandruff shampoo, how can you possibly not get a laugh out of that?

Some of my own: Rat Race- John Lovitz crashing Hitler's car into the WWII veteran's convention made me laugh so hard I hurt myself.

Dude Where's My car- I tried to not like this, I really did. But trying to one up Fabio by making out with each other won me over.

Critters- Intergalactic Bounty hunters Ugg and Lee with the terrible mullets? Classic.

So don't be embarassed, Jenn. Watching only movies on critic's choice lists probabloy gets really boring. yes.gif
JennRose
Oh, I'm not embarrassed. laugh.gif I wouldn't have started this thread if I was. I'll start a high-brow cinema thread later. yes.gif

Yelekiah, I also will watch Queen of the Damned everytime it is on TV. It is mainly to get inspired to work out my abs more, though, seeing Aaliyah in her skimpy little outfit. hmm.gif

I didn't like Zoolander at first, but it's growing on me after watching the part with Bowie countless times.

'I believe *I* might be of service....'
JennRose
"Let's dance!" Yes, Dis, you have to like that movie, if only for Bowie's cameo. yes.gif

I just thought of another one, and it's pretty awful. Major Payne, and not even I can really vouche for why I like it. I guess because it reminds me of Stripes for kids. hmm.gif

It says just as funny, the dvd extra with the kickball scene is laugh out loud stuff as well. laugh.gif

I didn't see that.

I am proud of my favourite films tongue.gif
JennRose
Would you be proud even if you liked Catwoman? ph34r.gif

'Cause I kinda enjoyed it. At least it made me want to be able to walk on the back of my couch.
Mr Ed
laugh.gif Well I haven't had the pleasure of seeing it, but if I did like it, I don't think I would confess...

Maybe I didn't say what I meant. I like it, a lot. It's just that it's far from being the best Disney flick (that honor is a tie between Aladdin and Lion King). Yet I still love it. yes.gif Or else he wouldn't appear in my avatar right? yes.gif
JennRose
wub.gif Bambi's my favorite...

But that's for another topic. laugh.gif
rickfury188
Dead Poet's Society is an awesome movie that i saw at school. Also This Boy's Life is a pretty good one too. But, Batman BEgins is the one that takes it. That movie just blew me away.
JennRose
Perhaps I should have been clearer in my heading: this is for bad movies that you like, or movies that you love, but are ashamed to love them. yes.gif We had kind of gotten off topic for a minute. laugh.gif
