i just finished the second book and i really love them. next book's not out until summer 2006.
thing is, the books are set in new orleans so i wonder if koontz is going to change anything since katrina??

can you tell me a bit about the plot of the book, please? is it anything like the old Frankenstein movies/books?

I'm a fan of Dean Koontz, but I'm not familiar with these books. I also haven't had the chance to read any book of his for some time now.

I'll have to check out these 'frankenstein' books.

koontz took mary shelley's story of frankenstein and used it like she wrote it as a biography but the monster didn't die. koontz's characters discuss shelley's book as if it were sort of biopic. the monster's name is deucalion and he has just discovered that victor frankenstein (now named victor helios) is still alive and creating an army of 'people' to replace the 'old race' aka us. victor helios is evil and he wants to take over the world. but some of victor's 'new race' have gone wrong and are mutating and some are losing their 'programming'.

they are really great books, fast paced and enthralling set in new orleans.

another interesting thing koontz does in the first book is use the name jonathan harker for one of his characters which (as most of us know) is a character from the bram stoker book 'dracula' and he uses the name dwight frye who was an actual person who was an actor back in the 1930's who acted in horror films including 'dracula' starring bela lugosi and 'frankenstein' starring boris karloff. dwight frye played the characters of renfield and fritz in the above movies respectively. link: http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Set/6240/dwight.html

they are really worth a read! thumbsup.gif
