starman - sorry to take such a long time to answer your question - i think i've seen the nasa footage your talking about - something that appears to be a "space battle'. Chances are instead that that all it is are particles that happen to be very up close to the camera when the footage was taken. All of this mind you is very off topic for this thread, and i believe it has already been talked about in another thread, so best to talk about it there.

Now, back on topic. Religon is a very emotive topic and has caused more than one thread on this forum to be closed due to people taking offense to others views. Please when discussing this bear in mind that eveyone has there own views on the subject which will most likely be different to your own. I can't see why any one can't express thier personal views along as there are not trying to be personally insulting.

I have noticed several such comments made on this thread. Comments like these are unneeded and are extremely hateful, and stupid

Well people, if your faith is so shallow and lacking that you think that Bloated Corpse statement is "unneeded and extremely hateful, and stupid", maybe you need to back up and assess your own beliefs (or lack thereof), because you are being much more hateful and stupid! That's just an observation. disgust.gif

Oh brother! Well I was skimming through this thread and I noticed that you had posted a challenging response to something I had said. So I suppose I will respond to you.Let's see... where to begin... Ahh yes that part about backing up and accessing my beliefs because I am being hateful and stupid.
Well sir as for backing up my beliefs, do a little research and browse around in the Sceptics section; you should find that at least 4 times I mhave spelled out my beliefs. But for your personal benefit I will do so again. I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that Through him is the only way of Salvation. I I believe the Bible is the Infallible Word of God, and that it is to be obeyed.
As for my comments being stupid and hateful; if you think so then I am indeed sorry that you think that. But I make no apologies for saying that direct attacks at anothers beliefs are stupid and hateful, and they should NOT be done! I do not believe the same way as many on this Forum but neither do I attempt to intentionally demeen them. I will believe my religion and others theirs; and in the end we shall see who is right.

Hi original.gif

Its nice to see some interesting responses to my topic starter. What i find interesting is the similarity between many ancient civilisations , a sort of common bond between them, they are a thousand years apart but yet they all seem related in some way. Claiming a contact with beings from space or (heaven) as it is called in the bible. some ancient cultures having an advanced knowledge of the cosmos that we only discovered in the last 100 years such as sirius being a double star. The descriptions of jesus birth is reminicent of a ufo encounter with the bright hovering light in the sky in an age where no man made vehicles where built.

The Piri Reis Map of 1513 is the first surviving map that shows the Americas (the Vinland map may be older but only shows a part of North America). The Piri Reis map shows North America, South America, Greenland and Antarctica which had not yet been discovered. The map was made by a Turkish Admiral Piri Ibn Haji Mehmed. Reis means admiral. Piri Reis did not long bath in the light of this famous work but was beheaded in 1554 for an unsuccessful foray into the Persian Gulf. The map became lost and was only rediscovered in 1929 by a group of historians working in the harem section of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul (Constatinople) found the map in a pile of rubble.

Because of the details on this map, many claims have been made for this map. Some even believe that it is so perfect that it could only have been made from very high altitude photographs.

So was Jesus an extra terrestrial? mary was a virgin. was mary an abductee?
was god the aliens? the greys? they that have watched us for a thousand years? did they start religion? or did mankind start christianity and many other religions based on contact with extra terrestrial races? i believe that there is enough written in history of ancient cultures to show that this may very well be the case.

Imagine a body, with all the colours of the rainbow, shining like light in a lamp
but with a face (or head) wich looks more human than any man.

Religion in the universe is not a subject, its a way of life
if we stupid baboons cant see, then bad luck to us.

Dont get me wrong,if you like to call someone alien couse there not from earth, well so be it.

I think a more accurate question is – who was the first to think up the belief in one God?

I don’t mean the simple answer that it was the Hebrews. The only thing I know is that they preceded Christianity, but who preceded them? And if no one did, why did such an idea come to life and captivated, in the end, so many?

I think that you can’t make fun of the question of ‘aliens’ or something like that in the sense that this idea is the only religious idea that is mentioned as given by something from the outside, as God explaining to Abraham what he is and why he should be served and believed in. Other ancient Gods came to life in order to explain nature, for example. It seems to be the more ‘natural’ thinking of people in believing in Gods. Then how and why did the monotheism idea come to life?
