dontgetit.gif i woke this morning, my armwas completely dead, i couldn't move it at all it was as if i had dislocated it, it was all floppy crying.gif it took at least ten minutes to regain the use of this arm and it was frigging weird, any suggestion on how i can stop this (other than sleeping in some other position).

p.s. the thought of losing my right arm due to sleep is worrying, my art career would be in ruins amongs other things whistling2.gif

you restricted the blood supply by sleeping on it wrong. its the same thing that happens when it 'goes to sleep' only there's no telling how long you were sleeping on it. that's probably why it took so long to get moving again, all those oxygen starved muscle cells waiting to get a fresh blood supply again.

my suggestion is sleep a different way original.gif

This happens to my partner quite a bit....sometimes both arms.. rolleyes.gif It's quite funny to watch him when the alarm goes off in the morning, trying to switch it off and his arms are flopping all over the place... laugh.gif But he hasn't figured a way to stop it from happening, and you can't help the way you position yourself when your in a deep sleep, so........sorry no advice here.. original.gif

I've often woken in a panic with the same thing. I found that blowing on the afflicted arm helps bring the feeling back quickly.

This happens to me frequently. When it happens, I have to use my 'good arm' to position my 'dead arm' where it gets a better blood flow, then I go back to sleep. When the sensations finally do come back, it feels tingly and cold.

It used to happen to me alot ........
Until I gave up smoking ...... whistling2.gif

tingly feeling... good and bad.. feels weird.

but anyway...if it is your dominant hand.. try a heating pad to realax the muscles.. it depends on what is the cause.

I know with tendonitis you bunch your hands into fists and sleep on them...
( weird but true).////

I get that same "dead" feeling. But usually it's in my brain... dontgetit.gif
Mystify
Actually the best possible way to get feeling back into your arm is to swing it around like a windmill as quick as you can for a 10 second intervals.... i used to do this as a kid to get the circulation in my arms better. Works well.
Try it original.gif

This has happened to me as well, except only to a hand...i massaged it, and hit it against some stuff...not to bring it back, but just enjoying the temporary invincibility of my arm. and luckily the feeling and control came back to my hand...thankfully. a few friends have experienced this too. (and its a good thing their feeling came back, or theyd have to say good bye to their sex life!! laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif w00t.gif ok sorry
