wub.gif Possibly the most important word in the English language is "kindness", not "love." Kindness is simply another name for love. Unfortunately, one of the most misused and abused words is "love", often used to control, possess and manipulate those who we hold near and dear. But no one can resist kindness! However, many put up barriers to love, especially to love in its misunderstood form.
What is Kindness? Love in action! And Love in its True form is both understanding and accepting of others, no matter how they behave. In order to truly put love into action, it is so important how you view others: are you able to put yourself in the 'shoes' of other people and understand their viewpoint of life?

Well then, I see that in order to understand the scope of people's viewpoint of life I have to know the size of their shoe! huh.gif

many put up barriers to love

Tis true . . . I think love is misunderstood in it's many forms. You're right when you say, "Kindness is simply another name for love". It's easier to accept 'kindness', where many are cautious about 'love'. Those who experience 'true love' are very fortunate!

As for viewing others 'viewpoint of life' . . . I think we have to evaluate our own 'viewpoint', in order to understand where others are coming from.

Love is a word that has many meanings.
There is love of your mate
Love for your child
Love of you fellow human
Love of creation

I think many times people don't except love because they don't know what kind is being offered. Also there are people who use love to control. Kindness is just what it is.
I had an act of kindness bestowed on me a while back. I was going to the postal store and it was raining very hard. I couldn't get a close parking space. So I thought what the heck, it's Florida if you don't want to get wet don't live here. I got out my walker and started for the store. A man with an umbrella ran over and held it over me. I am mighty slow so I tried to hurry so the man could be on his way. He said "Don't hurry, take your time." That was so kind of him to do that. He must have had a lot of love in his heart for his fellow man. wub.gif

There has been a lot of good done in this world in the name of love, but alas there has been much pain also done in the name of love. People remember the pain of a bad love longer then they do the pleasure of a good love.

Loge what does that tell you?

Go and learn what this means, said Jesus, "I desire Kindness, not sacrifice"
Matthew 9:13

"What does the Lord desire: that you do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with Him." - Micah 6:8

"The earth is full of the kindness of the Lord" - Psalm 33

Wonderful post Evistor.

Have you ever read Random Acts of Kindess. It is a good read.

Kids say what they do for their moms etc.

But Love is kindness. As Momma always told me If you can't make them love you "Kill em with Kindess Susan! "- then of course they will soon have to love you.

Well, due to the fact that you are a "dragon" and you said that your shoe is 9 1/2 EEEE (Extra extra wide), I think that it might smell like size 666 (Extra extra smelly dragon feet)! blink.gif

1) Washington Irving
Love is never lost. If not reciprocated, it will flow back and soften and purify the heart.
2) Otomo No Yakamochi
Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
3) Anonymous
Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop.
4) Jean Anouilh
There is love of course. And then there's life, its enemy.
5) Alfred Lord Tennyson

6) Kahlil Gibran

7) Margaret Mitchell
I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new. What is broken is broken -- and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived.
8) G. K. Chesterton
The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost.
9) Samuel Butler
It is better to have loved and lost than never to have lost at all.

The hottest love has the coldest end.

Marky as always your topics are the best, kindness is a very important word to me because it means i tyr and live a life that is beneficial to all others It definitly means
goodness it also menas sameness to me it has reminded me that I am of like kind with all others I think that is the meaning of Kin-dness (kindred spirits)I see as what I do for myself as what I do for all others i think in terms of Oneness and it works for me and it creates a true kin ship with all those that i meet, Love I don't know where to start, its truly an experience and its undefinable the best i can do is its free its eternal and its limitless, and its what i am and all others are Namaste Sheri

Love=kindness . . . logical
kindness=love . . . illogical.

If you really love someone, you will be kind to them, but it is quite possible to be kind to someone you love not at all. I am typically kind to people I have never seen before, let alone love, and even am kind to those I don't care for all that much. hmm.gif
