Hi There,

I have asked this question and simliar one about meditation on this message board and have had similar relpies. I did a search on Google and there are millions of websites. I have also used this board when someone gave me this address ttp://www.zenmind.com/meditation.html - Ii is very useful.

I have only been meditating for a few weeks now and the way I meditate is I usually sit crossed legs and listen to some relaxing music and then close my eyes and try to be in that place wheather it be in the rain forest, somewhere like that etc. Then I imagine some placwe where I would like to be...... I also think about my "place" in the universe.... etc.

Another way I meditate is to find a spot outside (I have recently made a garden for meditatiing in) sit down in a quiet spot where you wont be disturbed. I close my eyes and listen to the sounds around me - The birds chirping, cars going by, winding blowing the leaves etc. I do this for about hallf hour to an hour whatever. Sometimes the time just passes you by.

I hope this has helped in some way.

You mean like trying to meditate, despite the fact that I have no idea what meditation is, how it is done and what I get out of it?

Now to answer your original question, I don't think you can get a straight answer from anyone here. On this forum alone, you can find a few dozen different definitions of meditation. Not only does everyone have their own definition of meditation, but they also have their own way of practicing it. So you have to form your own definition, partly based on the different definitions you have already encountered, and partly based on your own instinct(intuition, however you call it).

I'll say it again, google is they way to go. You might want to ask a few member here for professional advice, but make sure you don't limit your scources of information to only one.
