what you need clones for? they just take space, and think form their point of view, EVERY oen has a family when they dont... and what if htat clone is evil? and they blame the good clone???

So what if that clone is evil? What if your child is evil?

Even if its against some countries moral code, you can be sure that if a country has the ability, most have already tried it! Millions of dollars are probably poured into it each year!

A clone would simply be an identical twin, much like identical twins today except for the fact that the clone would be x years younger than you (x being the age you were at when it was born).

If you have an objection based off the belief that a clone would not have a 'soul,' then what is your opinion on the "souls" (I personally do not believe in souls) of identical twins? If the soul enters at conception (as is commonly believed, especially by anti-abortionists), then identical twins (which come from when the fertilized embryo splits in half) either must share the same soul, or one has a soul and the other doesn't. Either way, both seem to be normal human beings.

As such, I have no objections to human cloning, with three conditions:

1)A clone should have one of the useless genes in the genetic 'garbage' that makes up most of human DNA tweaked so that they can be recognized separately from the original person;

2)A conscious clone can not be used for organs (not that this will probably happen, since you can almost build them separately in the near future);

3)A clone would have the exact same legal rights as the original person, just as identical twins have the same legal rights.

I'm not for cloning, but according to clonaid.com, these were a few reasons:

• Infertile couples: we have received many requests from infertile couples who cannot have children even after years of infertility treatments. For those people cloning is the only way to have a child of their own genetic offspring.
• Homosexuals: they cannot have a child today that is 100% related to them genetically but human cloning will provide this possibility for them.
• Families who lost a beloved relative: human cloning can give life a second time to the same genetic code who has died at an early age for example

everyone wants their own biological child... but for those infertile or homosexual couples, i would think that adoption would be a MUCH better path to take than cloning would. there are so many kids that need good homes... we need to find space for them before we think about bringing more children into this world.

EDIT: not to mention, even if you did clone a lost family member.... say, for instance, your sister. she would be an entirely different person. she would have no memory of her previous self's life. she would be living her own life and would make her own choices. people seem to think that if they clone someone they just get them back right away. that's not so. they would have to be born and would have to grow up... they just wouldn't be the same person you knew before. maybe they'd have the same genetic code, but their experiences, memories, personality traits, choices, etc would be completely different.

They should clone William Shatner before it is too late. yes.gif

True, but I think most of ya are slightly misunderstanding my posts.

I don't mean cloning for a child so someone can have a child they've always wanted, but I mean clones that can help fight in wars, increase production, etc.

i just find that wrong... kids should be conceived out of love, not out of convenience. they wouldn't be brainless beings that we could train and control. they would be actual humans. it would be horrific to bring a child into this world and raise it so that it can fight in a war for the country that subjected it to such a sad fate.

think about it... how would you feel if someone told you:
"oh, by the way, you were created to fight in wars. you don't have a family that loves you, and your sole purpose on this earth is to fight, whether you want to or not, for the country that created you. you will fight, and then you will die. you are worthless otherwise."
clones would have feelings and emotions too. think about how THEY would feel about this...

Ya have a point, but if we are technological enough to actually have human clones, it would be easy comapared to that to make em' without feelings.

Where did you get that idea from?

Not at all.

And as for it being immoral cloning soldiers inorder to breed the perfect warrior, thats not an argument against cloning, thats an argument against a certain use of cloning.

lets say the CLONE kills a few people, and they blame the good one by accident... we would all say " my clone did it..."

Which, of course, is why you would need to tweak one of the useless genes as a marker.

Incidently, why clone Shatner? We would probably just get another bloody singer.

There's ways around that.
