LOL. innocent.gif So, it seems our friends aren't around at the moment. Different time zones and all. I'll go ahead with my next question, and they can answer at their leisure.

This pertains to the great flood. The Elohim apparently perceived the humans as "evil" because it was our "wish to progress, perhaps enabling (us) to one day catch up with (our) creators".

QUOTE
The government (Elohim govt) then decided from their distant planet to destroy all life on Earth by sending nuclear missiles.

So, they decimated everything on earth with nuclear weapons, creating a great tidal wave that overtook all land. Where's the scientific evidence that this happened? Radiation, burning, etc.
Nadia Blue
QUOTE
So they (Israelites) built an enormous rocket-The Tower of Babel.

blink.gif
------
As pertains to Sodom and Gomorrah.

QUOTE
But among the humans who had been dispersed on Earth, a few nursed the desire for vengeance, so they gathered in the towns of Sodom and Gomorrah and, having managed to salvage a few scientific secrets, they prepared an expedition aimed at punishing those who had tried to destroy them. Consequently the creators sent two spies to investigate what was going on.

And there came two angels to Sodom in the evening. Genesis 19:1?.

I thought the humans were scattered? The Elohim must not have done a very good job.huh.gif
-------
QUOTE
Some humans tried to kill them but the spies managed to blind their attackers with a pocket atomic weapon:

And they smote them with blindness, both small and great. Genesis 19:11

Sorry, I just found this part amusing. rolleyes.gif

The Sacrifice of Abraham This next quote is referring to the time after Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed.

Perhaps I'm not up on my history here, but I don't remember ever hearing anything about people reverting back to a "semi-primitive" state. no.gif I could be wrong, but...

As suggested by another member, this thread will be for the 'raelian movement' people to answer any questions that the rest of us may have regarding their 'faith'.

I hope that they will be more forthcoming in their responses than they have elsewhere.
So who wants to throw out the first hardball?
good journey

Hmmm, so Earth is decimated by nuclear weapons - that leave no trace. And presumably they only killed humans too?

Or is this meant to be an allusion to the Chicxulub impact 65mya? There have been subsequent meteorite impacts, but that was the last associated with any mass extinction events.

It does seem that the theory is somewhat lacking evidence? rolleyes.gif

And WBS is quite correct - there is no evidence that mankind has ever undergone any reversion to a more primitive state. Unless of course you really believe in a super advanced ancient civilisation destroyed without leaving a single trace wink2.gif

The Raelian Attitude Toward other UFO Groups

According to Palmer, the Raelian position regarding other UFO groups and contactees is ambiguous. She writes, "While they (the Raelians) are quick to point to reports of UFO sightings in the news as corroborating Rael's story, they are inclined to dismiss the claims of career contactees as erroneous." (Palmer, 1995A:200)

Additionally, Raelians tend to separate themselves from other UFO groups. In fact, the Official Homepage states, "We (the Raelians) are not ufologists. We find our evidence on our own planet, within humanity and in scientific progress, which increasingly confirms the messages given to Rael by the Elohim." Palmer further expands on the idea that the Raelians separate themselves from ufologists. In her work, Palmer includes a Priest Guide's explanation of the Raelian attitude toward others involved in the UFO phenomena. According to this Priest Guide of the Raelian Movement, "We (the Raelians) often encounter ufologists or UFO addicts similar to 'trekkies,' who are interested in nothing but UFOs, but we're not interested in UFOs per se, just the Message and those people who might be inside the UFOs." (Palmer, 1995A:200)

From the MetaReligion site.

Strangely, these raelians are rather abruptly dismissive of other groups claims, and even states by inference, that ufologists are equivilent to fans of fictional TV shows.

QUOTE(Irish @ Oct 3 2005, 01:41 PM)

What I have gotten so far is the Raelian movement so far was started by a French race car driver (Claude Vorilhon) who claims to be a prophet and 1/2 brother of Jesus. He was taken aboard a UFO where he met with Jesus, Buddha, Joseph Smith and Confucius and changed his name to Rael.
Why if these men could not straighten out the human race why not try an ageing hippie race car driver with hedonistic tendencies.

In his 1976 book, “They Took Me to Their Planet”, Rael describes witnessing the "re-creation" of his own body in a vat on the planet of the Elohim.
The Raelians have two divinely-appointed aims: first, to spread the message that humanity was created from the DNA of superior extraterrestrial aliens "Elohim" and second, to "build the Embassy" to welcome the aliens back to earth in around 2035. He however might have to go ahead of the rest of us as that would put him into his late seventies and they are not having much luck with the cloning thing as such. There is a special order of elite women called Rael’s Angels within the movement. The Angels are in training with Rael to develop qualities of feminine charisma pleasing to the extraterrestrials (who revealed to Rael during the summer of 1998 that they want a bevy of beautiful women ready to welcome and entertain them when they land.Ok, so I’ll have few questions later on in the program.

Until then. All The Best Irish.

Okay,
I 've beein reading through this thread - granted not every word, it is long - and so far what I have gotten is that the one person who says he is NOT Raelian is giving most of the answers??????

Being female, am I the only one a little concerned about the above statement? So, let me get this straight, this movement has woman that do nothing but make sure they can "please" these little aliens when they land?
Nadia Blue
That's a valid question about the women, Amy. Yelekiah has been trying to help answer questions because he's read the book, and the two Raelians are in a completely different time zone.

According to the book, once population was established here on Earth, the exiled Elohim (who were here) took the most beautiful human women and reproduced. It didn't mention human men. thumbsup.gif
amybutts
Okay. Thank you for the answer WBS....

That movement just sent women back 100 years......
Nadia Blue
Hey, the guys don't even marry us. They can leave us whenever they want. huh.gif
MichaelS
WBS- That's because us men are such ugly little creatures... worthy only for feeding the lions... wink2.gif

And I don't quite agree with their attitude towards women or marriage.
Nadia Blue
That explains a lot. It seems that all the Elohim are men. rolleyes.gif
JMPD1
Well, I'm sure that the women here could meet the qualifications......
devil.gif

On the plus side for this group, it doesn't advocate against homosexuality, or ethnic background, just stupidity, apparently.

Although, what happens when rael passes away? Who will the successor be that will communicate with the elohim?

And how come, in the first book, the eloha tells rael that he won't be visited until an 'embassy' is created, and they (the elohim) feel that humans are in the right frame of mind (read respectful, and thankful), but lo and behold! the same alien pops up 2 years after the initial series of meetings?

and, just when poor claude was giving up his position as leader of the movement. These aliens appear to have a fantastic intelligence network......
MichaelS
Yeah, I read about how they chose "the most beautiful women"... kinda discriminatory in my opinion.

And I'm not sure I'd want to trust a race that wants our women. disgust.gif

They'd have to zap me with their pocket atomic weapon that leaves no traces of radiation in order to get to you.
Nadia Blue
"...and lo, the mighty Eloha withdrew his magic pen of doom from his sacred pocket protector..."

rofl.gif
Mr Slayer
Raelians are actually no worse than any of the big religions like Christianity, Islam, Judaism... of course they differ in many aspects, but largely, it's really about the same thing; subjugation to the extreme.

Take a second and think about it.
Nadia Blue
Ash, we've been thinking about it for a week. That's why we started this thread. To discuss their beliefs. Granted, we go off topic during the lulls.... blush.gif
MichaelS
AshKatNah, any attempt to organize thought, knowledge, and belief- whether it's religion, politics, education, etc is an attempt at controlling the masses.
JMPD1
Agreed Stewey. That is why I am forming a group of people to combat these insidious organizations.
All you have to do is follow me........

A building is only as strong as its foundation.

The foundation of Raelism is built on the opinion and supposed experiences of one man Claude Vorilhon. That being said the character of such a man is worthy of scrutiny. What do we know about this man?

1.He’s a former journalist and race care driver. Although he claims to despise the media, he is a master at manipulating press conferences from his start in France in 1975 in the promotion of his first book The Book Which Tells the Truth, The Message Given to Me by Extra-Terrestrials. He has continued his pattern of bait and vanish right up to the announcement of a cloned human in 2000.

2.He lives half the year in Florida and the other half at UFOland, the Raelians' theme park and condo complex about an hour northeast of Montreal. He founded the organization in France in 1973 but it is now based in Quebec, Canada. He claims a following of 55,000 members in 84 countries. Amidst growing legal problems Rael decided to leave France. He immigrated to Canada, where he is a resident and achieved tax-exempt religious status for his Raelian movement.

3.Rael advocates sensual massage, nude meditation, free love, and eternal life through human cloning. And encourages all members to participate in these activities to promote and recruit new membership.

4.He’d also would like you to give 10% of your after-tax income to the foundation so he can afford his lavish lifestyle. And until you can clone yourself, he requests that when you die, you leave the bulk of your worldly possessions to the Raelian movement.

5.He Targets a growing market of bereaved parents, infertile or same-sex couples as well as young people with an interest in UFO’s, and crop circles. The Raelians claim to have cloned the first human, but offer no evidence to the scientific community.

6.He insists that followers and the media address him as a prophet and call him your holiness. Although he claims it is with tongue in cheek his ego thrives on this form of attention.

7.The sexual structure of the movement seems to fit Rael’s personal interests, with various categories of adepts. One of them can be considered as his personal love slaves, since the members can only have sexual intercourse with a prophet, and he is the only prophet right now.

8.Marie-Paul his ex wife claims She witnessed nude gatherings in the living room and says she was treated as a servant while he brainwashed their preteen children into believing he was a divine messenger for an alien race. Knowing him best she describes him as “’He is a very cynical, manipulative and charismatic man”.

9.Shortly after his divorce he married a 16 year old daughter of one of his followers (with their permission of course).

10.He has even admitted to his child hood friend Roland that it is all built on lies, Roland asked Claude if he had lied about his encounter with alien beings from outer space. Vorilhon reportedly replied, “Yes, I lied but you knew it, anyway, so I am not teaching you anything! Claude went on to explain that he had never seen any “little green men,” but that the tale helped him achieve the attention and eventual status he wanted.
Well I will save the rest for another day, but I leave you with a question. Is this the character of a man you would have lead your children and grandchildren into eternity?
Personally I wouldn’t even buy a used car from him!

All the Best

Hmmm..... Very intersting post Irish. ... Thank you for that information
Azalin
Very much agreed Irish. I've looked into the Raelians a bit ago and shook my head. He must be a very charistmatic person to do this, however, it's not hard to prey on beleivers, that just want to believe in something for the sake of doing it.
Irish
I have to admit when you combine free sex, aliens, science, religion, crop circles, race cars and all the answers you will ever need. Add one charismatic leader you’re bound to get a few recruits. Heck if I didn’t have a conscience and didn’t know better I would role what little hair I have left into a bun and start racking in the dough. But I would through in free beer just for good measure.

Why did they create so many thousands of different dinosaurs over such a long period of time? What's the point?

Think of earth as the laboratory, they were experimenting with their sciences. Just think, we probably will do that one day if our DNA experimentation has gotten out of hand on our planet, leaving the population in fear. Also, once our earth is dying, we will move to another planet.

Imagine trying to tell the population of that planet, thousands of years later that your people created their people. They would be having the exact same discussions as we are having now.

Okay, where did the exiled Elohim live? In houses? And also, scientists do know that when dealing with brain size, bigger is not necessarily better. wink2.gif But, as you say, we don't know precisely about the Neanderthal. Even though we do kind of know how they lived which was not comparable to how we live today, but that's another story altogether, I guess. tongue.gif

The book mentions that the Elohim lived in remote mountain top cities. Look at how many amazing mountaintop ancient cities which have been abandoned.

It also states that once the Elohim decided to withdraw they built cities underneath the water. How many UFO's have been seen entering and exiting our seas and waterways?

I assumed that the explosion took place in the water, so as to create a giant tidal wave. If they exploded it on the terrafirma the force would have split the continent again.

No. Rainbow has stated that the Raelians believe that the abandoned cities in the moutains of Peru, etc are former cities of the Elohim.

I think it's rather demeaning to human achievement to claim that in my opinion.
