What parts don't you take as a metaphor?
Quite a few accept it literally. But that's beside the point.
Can one really put all their faith in a book is the same as asking if one can put all their faith in a man.
Yelekiah
I'll be back in several minutes. I'm just grabbing a bite to eat.
MichaelS
The parts that say, "Be nice to other people" are the ones I take literally.

As I've stated before, I don't subscribe to organized religion.

I don't put my faith in a book (though I can appreciate them for their words and themes), or in a single man to tell me how to act, think, or live.

I have faith in myself to do the best I can do in those regards.

We are being asked to put our faith in the "truth" of "the book" as being true simply because one man says it is.

I think it's a little more complicated than that. Look at our DNA. Keep in mind that we still cannot find the missing link. There are so many UFO sightings around the world that move in strange s-shaped successions (they're not satellites). Look at the 12, 0000 year-old radioactive skeletons and charred mountain tops indicative of a nuclear explosion. I can go on and on, but I haven't had sleep or breakfast yet, lol. the point is, what he says makes a bit of sense that we have been "tampered" with. look at sudden rise in civilizations...I'll continue later.
JMPD1
can you post a source, other than raelian. about these '12,000 year old radioactive skeletons'?

MichaelS
Graham Hancock proposed a theory for the "sudden rise" of civilizations that don't involve aliens... but rather a lost civilization pre-dating the "great flood" that was scattered, and took it's knowledge to various parts of the world.

And Essan has already discussed the radioactive skeletons (which could be an after affect of some meteorites anyways), as well as the charred mountain tops. As for DNA- it was hashed over in the "New Teachers" Thread.

And it's only becoming complicated because people are refusing to give us their own personal perspective on what's in the book... except those of us questioning it.

I have yet to hear you, or the others saying, "This is what I believe- and here's why (other than simply because the book says so)."

Yes, the answers are in "the book"... but they are Rael's answers... not your own free-thinking observations and thoughts.

God Code. Not sure of the author but you can google it. It has a bibliography on it etc. There might be a link online somewhere.
JMPD1
That is the irony of it all Stewey.

They say "We want to help you become 'free thinkers'", but they only want you to listen to their explanation. And, if you question them, you are exhibiting 'closed mindedness'.

Well, I have only one thing left to say, then I'll leave this battle to others:

If your beliefs bring you comfort, and help to make your path smooth, then it is 'right' for you. Your path, however, may not be 'right' for me.

Good Journey, and Good night.

Hashed over but not concluded. There is no final theory. But that still doesn't explain how we are able to find tons and tons of bones of pre-historic man but still no missing link. And I can get much deeper than that, I'll get into it later.
Was this thread about personal perspective or was it a Raelian question and answer???
I gave my personal perspective several times anyway. And so have Claude and Rowan.
What else do you have to ask me then???
sanchera1978
I think this is the book he is referring to. i havent read it myself yet but its been on my list for a while. You can listen his interviews on laura lee.com link below.

Hey, guys, I am only on page 20 still trying to catch up. It is difficult spending so much time trying to answer 50 questions a day, and you just keep coming back with more!

Please acknowledge that we also have families and lives ?? hmm.gif

Till next post.....

Incorrect. Who accused you of that? You all have been questioning me all day. I haven't slept and I've answered all of your questions that were both clever and some were quite stupid. Still I've been patient. WTF are you talking about?
Haven't you noticed I've been here for a looooong time???
sanchera1978
yelekiah you have responded to most of the answers i think the thread was started more so claude could present his answeres since he actually admits to being a Raelian. Keep in mind that just becuase we have mysteries that we havent been able to solve yet doesnt mean that a person who answers them has the right answers. There's always more then one way to skin a cat.
Yelekiah
Rowan's right.

This page was at 18 when I got back. Now it's almost to 29 so don't tell me I haven't answered your questions. That's being rude.

True. But why am I being accused of dodging answers?
I know that this thread was aimed at Raelians, but I've read the book and I was willing to pitch in since I don't have children to look after as they do. Try and have respect for them.
BTW, that is to everyone.

I responded to ALL of the questions. Read the thread again.
Rainbow Rowan
Hi Guys, I still haven't caught up but something occured to me...

All we have is the book too. So if people are reading it, why are they questioning us, as if we have some different information? We have only come to our own conclusions based on the book. Which is why we keep saying 'It's in the book'.

Sorry I am not sure that we can keep going on this thread. It is becoming very draining on all levels for us.

Love you and leave you

Rowan

That's why I keep asking for personal thoughts and beliefs about what's in "the book".

Surely, as free thinking individuals, you have your own thoughts on the material?

Actually, we have been presenting our personal thoughts on the material. WBS has been asking intellegent questions, and other have been making their own observations.

Tell us what you- as a person, believe from your texts?
Nadia Blue
We don't have conversations with other Raelians about what to make of it. We haven't been following the movement. Just thought it would be nice to get the opinions of some of the people who had more experience with it. In some cases, get some clarification. That's all. I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. Truly. This has been a drain on me, as well. sad.gif Have a lovely evening.

Sooo you have absolutely no personal opinion you wish to share?

Your 'take' on this?

I asked your self appointed defender, and he was also unable to present his own conclusions.

And, just because I feel like being a 24 karat SOB, please define, in your own words what a 'free thinker' is, and how one becomes so.

If you can

good journey. I would like to say that this will be my last post here, but I am afraid it won't be.

Ok, check out the New Teachers thread I am sure that we have talked about our 'take' on the religion plenty of times.

Thank you once again and good night.
Yelekiah
^She's right. This thread has been up for a few days and is already on 29 pages. Rowan and Claude share their thoughts on the religion several times in New Teachers. It's extensive actually. And Claude tells his story. So if anyone wants experiences, it is in that thread.
sanchera1978
Yelekiah your a good man for trying to answer everyones questions it seems the people whom we most wanted to hear about are unwilling to talk about their beliefs. The reason this thread got so long so quickly is becuase most of us have never encountered a Raelain before and we wanted them to share their ideas and beliefs. It was a unqiue opportunity but it seems they lack the will to express their ideas.. They were treated with respect for the most part in the thread which i thought would encourage them to discuss their ideas but i guess i was wrong. We just wanted their point of view on certain doubts that most of us share to bad they werent willing to help us out..
Yelekiah
They were, it's just that they have families and hectic schedules. BTW, the New Teachers is filled with their personal experiences and thoughts on the religion. It would just be extraneous for them to repeat themselves.
MichaelS
And now we're asking their perspective on specific parts of that belief.

The other thread was a very generalized one.
Yelekiah
No, it was not. Claude gave his entire life story and his perspective several times. Rowan did as well.
When people are grilled about their faith, they are put in a vulnerable position. What are your thoughts about, sex, etc? And then the next minute someone like Irish will post how much distaste he has for Raelians. Can't you see where they are coming from? It is not only a faith to some. It is their life. "Love and light" shouldn't be muddied with posts such as "clowns follow the Raelian faith" or "he should become a porn star". It's offensive.

Just read the New Teachers. I hope you find satisfaction there.
Rainbow Rowan
Thank you Yelekiah,

I have just popped down here while my kids are at the breakfast table. You can understand that I am a busy mother, with a family to take care of. Claude too has a family and he works full time.

Our families need us, so please find the information you required from our previous New Teachers thread which went for weeks.

Kind regards

Rowan
MichaelS
WBS has a job, two kids, and a husband... yet she has taken time to read the book, and ask intellegent questions.
Yelekiah
Which I have answered. Everyone handles similar experiences differently, plus they are not in the same time zone as myself.
And you know what happens? They wind up answering 50 questions at once that are dumped on them from the previous night.
What's your point?

WBS doesn't answer 50 questions at once from the day before. It would feel like a chore I can imagine.
MichaelS
As you keep insisting- you are not a Raelian. Those that are have either skipped over her questions, or glossed them over.

We appreciate your input as "devil's advocate", but since you have no real experience as a Raelian, all you can honestly do is say, "this is what the book says"... which is what we've been getting all along.

Sorry, if that seems harsh- but it's true. Time zones don't mean anything. They actually have as much time as they want to forumlate their answers before posting. On the internet, time is actually quite meaningless.
Yelekiah
Yes it does mean something. I had 1980 posts this morning, and now I have 2073! A million questions are being thrown at me and I was being patient. Do you know what that feels like? Bear in mind I answered these questions relatively quickly.
Yelekiah
Yes, they have time once they're not at work or with their kids, but it would be a huge undertaking. Didn't you see how insulting this thread was??? All those things Irish was saying? Rowan was offended by that.
JMPD1
Wow. People dedicated to their religion, facing opposition to their beliefs. Who would have thought that could happen...

Are you seriously telling us, that these raelians have never encountered a negative or hostile response to their pronouncements?

Oh, and since you were one of the people who kept telling us to 'stay on topic' in the other thread, have you forgotten that this one was opened so that we could ask questions, and voice opinions? If I recall, the raelians were quite happy with coming here to 'discuss' it.

And, don't they know any other fellow members of their cult that could sign up here to help answer the myriad of questions?

Oh, and I did use the word 'cult'. Nothing presented in the 50 odd pages of these two threads, nor the 403 odd, rambling pages of 'the book', has influenced me to alter this perception.

Yelekiah
And I answered your questions that were on topic. So did they, but when you start with porn star jokes, it's not really enjoyable anymore.
It's 29 going on 30 today. What more do you want???
JMPD1
Let me put it this way Yelekiah:

Are you by any chance a brain surgeon?

I hope not, because then the following is useless. grin2.gif

If you aren't a brain surgeon, but have read, quickly, one book on neurosurgery, and there is a degreed neurosurgeon available to answer questions, who do you think I'm going to direct my questions to?

I and others have thanked you for your efforts, but some things strike me funny.
A - you seem to be extremely indignant on behalf of the raelians;
B - you seem pretty defensive of the whole movement;
C - you also seem highly annoyed that we should question YOUR opinion of this movement.

Once again, and in the full light of investigative measures I ask you point blank: Are you a follower of Rael?

Every thing I have stated has been researched and is well documented. If she is offended than I suggest she counter my claims and show me the errors of my research.
My retorts to Claude were in return for the silly comments he made.
Claude should learn that if he wants to do a battle of witts he should show up armed.

Yelekiah
No, I am not religious at all actually. I'm indignat because Rowan is my friend, and this was before I found out she was Raelian. I can't believe in Raelism because I believe in reincarnation, etc, etc. It conflicts with a lot of my views. I'm highly annoyed because I haven't slept since you've been answering so many questions (up since 7pm now its 4:52 of the next day). "Hey, Yelekiah, what does this mean?" I've enjoyed this thread a lot, and especially New Teachers. But the level of disrespect is at times intolerable. People keep asking me if I'm on drugs or if I've had too much medication. (ha, ha) That's why I'm defensive. I get insulted in a thread that I use to have so much fun in.
Yelekiah
Did you also research the clown part, Irish? And please don't make a joke out of it. It would be funny yes, but seriously.
JMPD1
so who told you to spend 24 hours answering questions?

You are making me doubt your sanity sir.

And, despite what you may believe, I admire your tenacity and loyalty to your friends. It does you credit.

But, let them stand for themselves for a change.

I can assure you, if they would communicate better, i'm sure that the hostility levels would drop.
Rainbow Rowan
OK everybody, let's wind it up. It is getting out of hand, and we are all spent by it.

For hours Yelekiah has answered your questions, and for weeks and weeks we have kept going over and over the same topic.

There will always be opposition just the same as there will always be beleif. In any religion or any subject.

So we understand where everybody stands, now let's just give each other a break and be done with it.

Good bye and good night...

I'd like to say one other thing before I retire this attempt at understanding. I find it highly insulting when we've been asked to read the book, I do that, ask questions about it, and am the last one answered (if I get answers at all).

I find it insulting that Claude would come on here and address all the insults, but answer only one of the many questions that I carefully thought about, spent my time typing and checking for the answers about. I've done what has been requested of me. I only expected the same. sad.gif

In the Raelians defense they never actually agreed to this thread someone mentioned it and it was started but their consent to bombard them with questions was never given. It would have been nice of them to answer all our questions but by no means are they obligated to do so.
