It’s been shown in recent years that people are increasingly turning to spirituality because they feel they are missing something in their lives.
People feel the need to turn away from Greed,consumerism,commercialism,
Self appeasement ,materialism....you get the picture I imagine. A symptom of this searching for spirituality is the increasing number of members on sites such as this one. Have a look on any paranormal sites and you will find the same searching questions from people who feel the need to find this “missing something”.Call it what you will ,Afterlife communication,Ghosts,Spiritualism,.Everyone it seems is looking for some kind of proof that there is more to this life than the shallow selfishness that now permeates the way we live......”I’ll look after me and mine”and tough titty on anyone who cant cope.
Now this is all great and fine and indeed is to be commended ,it shows that people are starting to recognise that no man is an island and that material riches are just that ,and there is no long term happiness to be gained from them.......not having the benefit of experience on this I’ll succumb to the accepted wisdom....(probably spread by poor people anyway ).
BUT look at what happens when this shift away from greed takes part .....The vultures and Charlatans in the guise of TV producers and “smiley happy mediums” are all ready and waiting to make sure that they can get their greasy little mits on our discouraged pockets .So in fact these are as cynical and exploitative as the rest....more so even because they pretend to be the opposite......In this I include but don’t limit to the likes of
James Van Praagh .........Now a high flying TV producer because after all people need proof.Has he ever proved anything to you ?

TV Companies I can maybe forgive because their job is to make money by providing entertainment .....but these guys I cant forgive ,they break the most precious of rules ...they say they can speak with our dead relatives....they can give us comfort, they can ease the pain,they can help us to make sense of it all.....There is more to life than pain and sacrifice and we will all be united again........Unless of course ,you cant pay them !.......no harm just tune in .The ratings will guarantee them another fat pay cheque,and who’s to say that shadow on the wall wasn’t cast by your dead uncle ,once there’s money in it ...of course it was !.If you agree with this post please feel free to post it anywhere you think it may be read.......And please ...dont watch this crap....it only encourages them and makes them richer.

actually, john edward is a known "performer". if you read the screen they flash for 10 secs. at the end of the show, you'ld know, a magician, mentalist, with no pretense. it is an old schtick. "I'm getting an M. is there an m closed to you? an older figure, mother or aunt or whatever."

I just have to say this Spirituality isn't the new religion , spiritual just means life itself, all things are spiritual because all things are a part of life,this is just what is so ( of course it can be argued forever) but if you are alive playing the game of life participating in life you are spiritual. If you are on TV pimping yourself to the highest bidder your into making money not helping anyone, I would not give the time of day to those turn the channel physhics no one mentioned Sylvia Brown she's the cross over reader that never has anything to say Namaste sheri

Its great i rekon. People getting more spiritual, as for the TV shows, no one to my knowledge in Australia believes in those kinda crap, (most of us aussies get pissed off at U.S. shows taking over our aussie shows!)

Australians are a lil' slow in getting more spiritual. But im an aussie, and am more deeper than eva. Especially after joining this site a week ago. Its pretty awesome, some of it is freaky, but other parts of this site is kool.

Alot of people i know in Australia don't have much spiritual beliefs and are too 'scientific' and don't believe in a greater being. (Scientific meaning into science, not scientology).

I have found that being spiritual as a guy plays really nicely and romantically when describing deep thoughts and feelings to girlfriends. The spiritual side of life is quite beautiful. I'm still in the process however of trying to get an out of body experience, that would be even more beautiful.

Just saying hello from a fellow Aussie and what you said about being spiritual and girls being attracted to it is SO true. Being spiritual isnt being ignorant, it isnt being rebellious or "scientific"- being spiritual is being serene and girls love it.

but it could be said that they're both about the money and greed. (though not all mediums and psycics do it for the money)

Lots of people want to make a buck at any cost. Mediums, Psychics who look for big bucks, fame, attention will get what they are looking for because a fool and his money are soon parted. But it is all they will get. They will never truly be a part of the spirit world. The more people they harm with it the more negative energy they will create for themselves.

A true teacher does not ask for money. I have know very few true mediums and psychics and not one of them ask for one dime. Actually I have found the money they need live seems to come to them one way or another. Not one of them ever got materal rich, but they had riches of other kinds.

Spiritualism is not a religion because spiritualist can come from any religion.

well, riddle me this, guys-if you know how to paint or write, that is a gift from god/whomever. if you are a psychic, that is a talent, too. should a painter give his works away free? no difference.

Well, I don't watch any of these people you mentioned. I have to say this, who isn't out there to make money? You are from Ireland, while I am from America, so it may be different over here, but no one is going to do anything for free. Simply because it costs a lot to live over here. Especially on TV, you can't produce a TV show that people would watch, with no money. Money makes the world go round, and money is the root of all evil. If you want the truth for free, you can look it up and do your own research on the internet, which is still primarly free.

I'm sure most on TV are out there to make money, but there are some psychics who are poor to. Anyways, just what I thought I could add to this...
