I havnt had any dreams for 2 months now. First it takes long time to sleep. I cant sense when im sleeping but i wake up very quickly. The only actual dreams i have had is when im almost waking up, but i can feel reality. i know i can just open my eyes and step right up. And i dont feel like being in the dream, more like a viewer of a program. I know this isnt really anything about the paranormal, i just wanted to get this question of my mind.

It's perfectly normal to not have dreams, in fact... I don't have dreams either! Well, actually you really are having the dream, it's just that when you wake up too fast then you can't remember it. If you really want to start dreaming again, start waking up slowly and stay in the same position you were in while you were asleep when you wake up. Try to remember the dream while laying there, and once you remember it you should write it down in a "dream journal".
I can guarantee you that you'll start having dreams again if you follow my advice.

Interesting.
This is not the same thing here but once I kept having the EXACT same dream for days.
It kept up for 5 days.
By the 5th day, I was a wreck. I would start to dream, and then wake myself up screaming NOOOOOOO!!!!.
By the 5th day of this I was barely sleeping, as soon as I fell asleep, it would start again, and I would wake myself up.
I was literally days away from booking myself into club wacko.
Thankfully, it stopped, and I do not want it to start again anytime soon.

aah, this has happened to me before in the past. usually happens when i am dead tired or stressed after a long, hard day.
actually, i'm told that when you "don't" have dreams, you actually ARE, but don't remember them.

1. Before going to bed, keep a clear mind. Tell yourself that "I will remember my dream when I wake up". This is actually a proven and effective way to help dream recall. Having too many thoughts on your mind can distract you from remembering your dream in the morning.
2. Have a regular bedtime and wake up time. Make this your routine. Going to bed and waking up at a regular time every day aids in dream recollection.
3. Avoid alcohol consumption and taking medication before going to bed. These things may hinder you from remembering your dream. Eating fatty foods too close to bedtime can also divert bodily resources away from the brain. and hider dream recollection.
SourceIf you continue to wake up without remembering any dreams, you are probably waking up in a non-REM period of sleep. Try setting your alarm clock 15 - 30 minutes earlier than you normally wake up. Chances are you will be in your last REM period (the most vivid dream state) at that time. You will more likely remember a dream, if you wake up in the middle or towards the end of it.

I'll go with justcallmefox - you most likely ARE dreaming. You just don't remember them.
The tips jcmf gave are pretty good. If you have trouble clearing your mind of thoughts, try writing them down - this helps in the sense that you have the thoughts on paper (so they are NOT overcrowding your brain) - you wont need to worry about forgetting them as you can return to the notes in your own time.
Referring to the "fatty foods" side of things, that's a good tip. But also try to avoid eating AFTER 8:00 pm (some say 6:00, but it's hard to fit everything in before 6:00 while you're working, etc.) and especially avoid eating HEAVY foods after this time, eg. pasta, potatos and bread. Having heavy foods laying in your stomach while in bed can disturb your sleep a great deal.

Hey, Akranis, put on a giant nicotine patch. It should help you dream. It affects the levels of dopamine in your brain.

I think I read that everyone has at least two dreams a night.
You don't necessarily remember them though.

You can still try the patch to help induce dreams.

That wouldn't be a good idea at all. That's like taking medication when it's not needed - if not, the same thing? 'Wanting to dream' is not a reason to apply a patch. It's absurd.

No offense.

Yes, but if you wake up slowly and stay in the same position you should be able to remember bits and pieces.

*yaawn* goodmorning

actualy i had a dream! thank you guys for your tips.
i must say this was indeed a weird dream. It was like a collection of different games i have played through my life. it started of with midtown madness where people would get on top of high buldings with their cars and drop down on pedestrians. And then it became like unrealtournament, becouse everyone started shooting eachothers with big weopons. Then i went to the woods and went into some kind of aztec temple where i found a sword. And then i went around in the forest killing stuff until i went back to the city and bought an appartment. And as i were cleaning out the stuff from the chineese girl who just to live there someone opened my door. And when i got into the kitchen everyone was having pancakes. I didnt question it so i just sat down and started eating too. And then i rolled over to an uncomfortable position and woke up :/
The dream didnt feel very real becouse everything was done in 3rd person view. ;P But atleast i had a dream

It's normal to not dream (or not remember them) after recurrent nightmares, I had the same nightmare every night, multiple times, for almost two years. And then I just stopped dreaming.

yea, thats how it started for me. I remember that now. Could it be that the mind is so afraid of dreaming that it starts to prevent the person from dreaming?

akranis-
nice to know you had a dream.

unfortunately, the thing about dreams is that 99% of the time (at least for me) they either make no sense or are EXTREMELY weird.

ya for example today i had a dream of playing halo2 with little slugger (paranoia agent)
thats the last show i watched before i went to sleep, so i think dreams kinda have something to do with everyday experiences
