Ziggy Stardust
The other day I was talking with my friend about fear and we realized it wasn't monsters or vampires or tigers we feared most, but infact entities within humanity; serial killers etc.

I find this interesting.

What do you fear most, and why?
SnakeProphet
Actually, neither. I think psychos are pathetic rather than frightening.
As for the monsters, it is an instinctive fear, like the fear of heights or the fear of spiders, it's not a deep-rooted phobia.

I'm the opposite. Psychos give me the creeps. ohmy.gif

I'm afraid of Humans more than most of anything else

Sociopaths worry me more then a wild animal. With human intelligence they are far more dangerous. yes.gif
distortedpandy
Ima go with humans...
Eternal Light
No contest! I fear entities inside of humanity!
nativechick1989
Entities inside of humanity - serial killers etc.
Shivel
I'd have to say dangerous entities inside of humanity as my answer.

What's so scary about them is they're harder to find and therefore cause a greater threat. The dangerous entities outside of humanity are atleast easy to recognize and steer clear of.
endlessgirl
Inside of humanity. We've got Muderders/Psychos killing (almost) everyday, as oppose to animals, they're harmless. Where ever you go, to the city or the mall, you can never trust anyone. Who's to say you got a stalker? And the next thing you know, you're being killed. Rrrriiight. As far as outside of the humanity goes, I don't believe in entities such as vampires, or monsters.

Humanity is scarier than any "monster"- whether it be mythological, cryptozoological, or a known species of wild animal.

What makes us so scary to me is our intellegence, the fact that we can deny to ourselves that we're predators by our evolutionary nature... and that we can even justify the horrific things we're capable of doing.

I picked humans, theres some sick f*$%@ out there. ph34r.gif
Ziggy Stardust
Facinating! Perhaps this is instinctual?

Some of you may not be fully understanding the poll. Entities outside of humanity isn't just limited to animals. It can mean anything - even irrational fears like vampires and monsters.
MichaelS
Not to seem contrary, but if you read my post, you may notice that I mentioned such things under the categories of mythological (ie vampires), cryptozoological (ie Bigfoot), and known species (ie wild animals). tongue.gif

I fear human monsters 500 times more than non-human ones...for some reason it seems like the human ones causes more suffering than dragons and tigers ever did... rolleyes.gif

Neither. The most powerful part about being afraid of the unknown is that, once you do know you are either fear-ful or fear-less.
I'm not saying I am fear-less, but I am not fear-ful. Not yet anyway...

Vigilant is the word!
ComplicatedParadise
Humans, can't trust any of them.
wrighty
Serial killers.
coldethyl
i voted humans because they are the scariest things in the universe.

Here in the somewhat rural community I live in last weekend there was 2 murders in less then a 24 hour period! blink.gif blink.gif

I feel that part of the reason is that some of the laws on the books are too linent. Hey, if you think you can get away with murder...you probably right. rolleyes.gif

Not only that, people don't want to get involved. Mostly cause of fear of retaliation. That they'll be putting themselves & their families in harm's way if they speak up about what they saw or heard. And in all honesty, I can't say that I'd totally blame them. hmm.gif

To put the shoe on the other foot though. If I had a loved one murdered I would want someone to speak up. It's just hard to even comprehend.

entities inside humanity.
JennRose
Humans. I'm not worried about a tiger kidnapping me, tying me up and torturing me for days before it kills me. Humans are more cruel than any other creature.
primordial
I fear myself.(Man)
