Tom and Katie Expecting!

October 6, 2005
Happy Hollywood couple TOM CRUISE and KATIE HOLMES are expecting their first child together, a rep for Cruise confirmed to ET Wednesday.

"Tom and Katie are very excited, and the entire family is very excited," a spokesperson told People magazine.

The inseparable twosome have been dating since last April in a whirlwind romance. This will be the first baby for Katie. Tom has two other children, ISABELLA, 12, and CONNOR, 10, both of whom he adopted with ex-wife NICOLE KIDMAN.

Close Cruise pals and fellow Scientologists JOHN TRAVOLTA and KELLY PRESTON reacted to the news: "We're so excited, so happy for you guys, we knew it would happen soon." And John even had a few baby name ideas: "The aviation field has been taken over (Travolta's son is named JETT), Tom's had a history with cars, maybe he should go into the car naming factor -- Rolls Royce of Ferrari!"

The mega-star first called the 26-year-old out of the blue for a private meeting shortly after she broke off her five-year relationship with 'American Pie' star CHRIS KLEIN. The two hit it off immediately and set out on a variety of romantic outings, coming out in public in front of the paparazzi while they were staying in Rome at the end of April. Since then, Tom has subsequently gone on to tell the press how much he loves and cares for Katie -- to the point of jumping for joy repeatedly on OPRAH's couch!

Tom proposed to Katie in Paris last June. Our JANN CARL recently sat down with him on the set of 'Mission: Impossible 3' for some wedding updates.

"We don't have a date yet," Tom revealed, "[But we have] big, big plans. We talk about it. I really didn't know that there were so many wedding magazines. I said, 'Are you kidding me? There are things for the flowers, the cake, the dresses' ... The thing that I love about Kate is that she's an artist, so she actually loves ribbons and she makes cards and creates art. She loves flowers, and she'll do her own floral arrangements. So it's going to be a lot of fun. It's going to be a celebration."

I'm not trying to be mean or cruel here, but I honestly hope that it's an eye opening experience for him. That he actually gets a front row seat of what Brooke Shields went through after the birth of her baby. It would be pure poetic justice!!! angry.gif

As a woman who has battled depression sad.gif for nearly all my life, I was very very angry at Tom Cruise's comments about the use of drugs & therapy for depression. He is not a doctor...fact is has he even played one in any of his cr@ppy movies? wacko.gif

Who is he to tell me & any other suffers of depression that his way is the right way. Trust me, I tried religion....I nearly became a pastor!!! innocent.gif I spent 3 years studying in seminary. So he can just shut his mouth. unsure.gif

If you have never battled depression, you can't fully understand it. Think of a time when you were so terribly sad, like maybe the loss of a loved one....Now, take a way all the reasons & causes for it. Then prolong it over years, maybe end decades. crying.gif That is the dark abyss I have lived in. The only thing that has saved me & my marriage is medication & therapy.

Either way, I honestly hope that the child is healthy, but that Tom learns that MAYBE he shouldn't make judgements about things he has no clue about. When he has walked in my shoes for awhile...but even then he still wouldn't know what it is to be a sufferer of chronic depression. no.gif no.gif

You cannot begin to fathom just how little I care about Mr. Cruise's personal life. Same goes for any other celebrity. I have better things to do with my time than to waste it on Tom Cruise, who allowed this loser to adopt children anyway isn't there some form of standards for adoptive parents?

I'am sorry to hear you have suffered from depression 40nrockin. I too have and did bad after birth of my 2 1/2 yrs. old daughter. I did cuz I had to have a csection and it took long time to heal cuz of complications during pregnacy and I couldn't hole my daughter for very long for like a whole month. I watched while everyone else did. I did hold her but not very much and couldn't. I wanted to, that with the weight gain then I was so depressed and I really really did try to get over it. I took vitamins and did everything-hey isn't that was Tom suggests, but it didn't work. I had to deal with it and was told when i got over it that I should have gotten better help than dealing with it on my own-but I made it ,but wish I had talked to more people at the time about it to have coped with it better. At times I did feel like jumping thru a window but only thing stopping me was my little bundle of joy and gift from God and my spouse. And I thank God to this day for the strength he gave me to make it thru the csection pain and depression.
As far as they're baby and dadadadada..... well I'am happy for them. I just hope he don't make her give birth Scientology style. If so then she'll be giving birth with no medics, and she won't be allowed to scream or talk during birth. Because scientologists think the baby will have a happier life if the mother obeys the beleifs. Katie-don't be stupid-take the medics. Even if you have to pay the docs to slip the medics in ya whne ole' Tom aint looking. Cuz if you don't, then at 26 and not at the age for your hips and such to have spread and as small as you are-it will hurt.
Tom-if Katie does go thru post-partum depression then I hope you have realized and come to your senses that you will never have to go thru it-so don't be judgemental or else you are just too blind to see how others feel about your cmments and how it can hurt those that have depression or have ever had to go thru it.
On further note-I still love ya Tom!! original.gif

Well at the time he was with Nicole Kidman and she at least would have met the standards!

I actually think they make a really cute couple, lol.
As far as the whole birth thing goes, then as long as its her decision and she isnt being pressured into it then hey, its up to her how much pain she wants to go through LOL
