Big fish Ciraxis! I hit a local jewel stream for some 'bows...

Caught about 6, ranging from 13" to 18". The stream is too overgrown to flycast, so I threw Panther Martins instead.

I love fishing. I once tied my rubber raft to the dock with 40 feet of rope, rowed out, cast my line over the side, and drifted until I'd caught my limit. It was so relaxing- had some music on the ghetto blaster, some cold beer, and a good book. LOL

NM doesn't even have pike...

Do they even have salmon? Or is it the little lakestock kind?
I'm pretty sure NM has no ocean-run salmon...

Yeah, it's lake stocked. We didn't even go to to where they were though, we stayed in the river and caught Rainbows. Did okay but got eaten alive by mosquitos.

My family and I are going to be staying at the Telemark Resort on Lake Namakagon in Cable, WI next week. We'll be their for a week and a day. Lake Namakagon is the premier musky lake in WI. It is known for it's spotty fishing, but when the bite is one, multiple fish over 40" and pushing 50 can be boated in a couple hours. The fish there are gigantic! Not only is it a musky haven, but it also is a Class A walleye fishery, and is surrounded by many pristine trout streams, full of native brookies, browns, and rainbows.
I am very excited, and I hope to catch a nice mixed bag, including hooking into one of the monster muskies that prowl the waters. On the way there, we'll be travelling through Illinois and souther WI. On the way back, we'll be travelling through the MI U.P. So there will be a lot of sight seeing, and I'll definitely bring my camera! I'll try to keep you guys updated via the resort's computers.
Cable is N. WI, close to Lake Superior and Duluth, MN

My friend and I went for some bass today. Most of our fish came on topwaters...Heddon Torpedos.
My friend caught 3 chunky 13" on the torpedoes.
I also caught a nice 18" on a gill. It had a girth of 14", and weighed a flat 5 lbs. It was a strong fish, and heavy!
It put a good fight on a fly rod.

I caught some more trout over the last few days, including a 16" brown. I also hooked into a 19-20", but it shook the hook. The memory disk on the camera is screwy, so the pictures are on the internal memory of the camera, so I can only upload them once I get home, but I do have some nice pictures of trout up to 13" before the memory disk got screwed up. A few were on Panther martins, and the others were drifting a Royal Wuff during the evening hatch.
Today, I went out on the water with a guy named Kerry and his two kids, Campbell and Miller. We met him yesterday at a resort, and he offered to take me musky fishing the whole day. He's been musky fishing this lake for the last 30 years! Last year, in two weeks he boated 6 fish over 40", including a 49"...and he hooked into 2 that were bigger. So we went fishing all day, throwing bucktail that were 9" long. We didn't hook into any musky, but we had 9 strikes, including one where the soft plastic tail of the bucktail was bitten off (only a musky can do that) and 3 follows where 30+ inch fish followed the bucktail all the way to the boat! He comes to the resort the same two weeks every year, so he offered to take me out again next year if we come again. He guarenteed fish next time. We did catch some nice gills on the beds though in the evening. However, I caught a 20" pike on a Mepps Agalia. The picture is on the camera again.

I thought you all would appreciate this. Asian carp are getting bad in the Illinois River, injuring some people by jumping into boats. They aren't native and are destructive so the DNR has said it's best to kill them off so the native species can survive - a difficult task as it is, in such a polluted river. Some groups have taken up bow fishing and there have been some videos posted, this one I thought was pretty funny and shows how bad the problem really is. Plenty of those little devils were harmed in the making of this video - you've been warned.
Clicky.

I prefer not to eat salmon that big, as the meat becomes old and slimy due to the age of the salmon...it basicaly deteriorates.
