When i was younger, i found these fish living in a creek in georgia. they were the size of minnows, with bright, cherry red bodies. The tops of their heads were yellow. anyone know what these are?

It sounds like a type of minnow that is called a "redbellied dace" there are both northern and southern species. They get to be about 3 or 4 in. Was the red and yellow divided by a black stripe? If so then that is what it is.

They were solid red, with a yellow head and i think white fins. it does not match the pictures of the redbellied dace, but if you think of anything else, let me know.
