I understand that this hobby isn't available/legal for everyone, depending on your country of residence, but it's quite enjoyable for us enthusiasts.
Russian Mosin-Nagants, British SMLE's and No. 4's, Yugoslav Mausers and SKS's, Russian SKS's, etc., etc. are quite reasonably priced these days and often come with sling, ammunition pouches, bayonet, cleaning kits, etc. A significant precentage are Cold War castoffs from the Eastern Bloc. In my area, Russian M44's and M91/30's can be had for around $70 (if you catch the sales).
Any other enthusiasts hereabouts?

Man i remember when we'd gop to the gun show and they have huge cases of chinese SKS's packed in cosmoline for like 30 bucks a pop, and the russian ones were like 50 bucks. by the time i turned 18, the russian ones were up to 160 bucks. I got one made and stored since 1956 and kept it original for a few months before i added a bunch of aftermarket stuff to it. the thing was invincible, i put 1500 rounds thru it without cleaning and it never jammed or had a failure to feed. I mostly stuck to more modern weapons after that one, and my arsenal donsisted of the SKS, a Valtro PM-5, and mossberg 590 military, and a beretta 96FS. Eventually i sold every one of them so i could buy weed. Oops.

My Grandma has a few vintage WW2 rifles. a Springfield 03 Rifle and an M1 Garand. She also had an M1 Carbine, but she gave that to my Uncle.
..........and now I wait for my inheritance
my current weapon of interest is the Soviet PPSH Sub-Machine Gun.
this thing literally has the same rate of fire as an MG34. 900 rpm
and has eccelant range for a sub!

I have to say, i love my mosin nagant, its a fine rifle. my favorite if the m1 garand though, the carbine is nice, i've shot a ww1 springfield, great gun. I am a collector of old war items, mostly WW2, so i collect the guns as well. I have been fortunate, because i have an uncle who has hundreds of old guns, and man they are fun. Lately i've been collecting black power guns, not really old ones, but they are really cool to shoot, i'd rather have a m1 in a war though. anyone here collect any other war items?

I was thinking about the Thompson, wondering that if it ever got re-activated into Military service. would it be modernized? and how? well I played around with photoshop to show my idea of a modernized Thompson M1-A1 Sub-Machine Gun.

Thats a cool pic.
I used hate guns. Like a month ago I went to see my cousins one of his friends is an enthusiast but not historic guns he likes the modern ones. So he let us have a crack at some of his collections. I was not interested at first but they forced me into.
I took his 9mm then pulled the trigger and I was like YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. that was a fune day. I wish I could have some in NYC.

The Barreta was cool

I remember shooting an uzi, there were other guns like his rifle, and shotguns, and other automatics but I don't remember the names

I own a Mosin-Nagant and a Bren gun (both deactivated because of the laws here, although if you have a firearms license they can be live).
I'm hoping to buy a walther p-38.
I keep the Mosin Nagant bayonet near my pillow, just in somebody breaks into the house ....or maybe a zombie.

you have a Bren? cool!
a zombie, eh? If your looking for a good Zombie killing weapon. go for a good ole' American Winchester!

Although I imagine a Bren to be pretty devastating against Zombies as well.
Walther P38, isnt that the "Bond gun"?

I have
2 1917 Enfields. One made by Eddystone and one made by Winchester but they both had the ears milled off and the barrels chopped so they are just "brush guns" and worthless
M1 Garand made by International Harvester
M1 Carbine made by General Motors
1903 Springfield made by Remington reworked by Sedgely in the 1950s
2 Radom model 35s 9mm made by Polish slave labor for the SS. These are considered the strongest "1911 Browning" type automatics ever made. But the configuration uses less parts than the 1911 and they were designed "one handed" operation for cavalry.
"Old style" Dakota SSA clone made by Uberti
Smith and Wesson 32 rimfire model 1 1/2. 5 shot with short barrel
1932 Mossberg model 46M "1903 Springfield" configuration "cadet rifle"
1950s Ruger Bearcat ( my mom, then my first pistol )
Here is some of my garbage.

edit: I bought the Remington 870 for $90.00 brand new in 1987 with both "stovepipe" and "brush" barrels. It was when 'Best' went out of business. They half priced everything.
edit 2: I can't believe I still have this junk on my harddrive.

Thanks! I am not a semi-auto guy. The sugar sand around here constantly clogged my Ruger 10-22 and my mom's mini 14 and she sold them both. So she moves to the Sandhills of Nebraska which is MORE SAND

When my grandfather left me half of his arsenal anything that didn't or I could not get the ammo for I sold. there is no sense having a "toy" you can't play with.
*waits quietly for uncle and mother to "expire"* LOL!

I'm still learning about firearms, so forgive me if I butcher the names.
I've had the pleasure of shooting the AK 47, "smelly," a Winchester 97 (kicked the crap out of me), a Luger, a P-38, a "shalom," and a reproduction Sharps carbine, among other things. I saw a 1600s blunderbuss at a gun show, and although I don't think it would be very useful, it was nice to be able to look at it.
a note about storing old firearms....don't let your mother hide them in a leaky attic locked open. My mom nearly let my dad's rifles rot like this. Thankfully, I took an interest in them, found them and cleaned them up before it was too late.
I'm a small adult female and I have difficulty finding rifles that I can hold steady since most are too heavy. Sad to say, I have the most luck with an old nylon 22 when I'm target shooting.
I have no difficulty with pistols and prefer old police-issue revolvers to the new self-loading items. Revolvers don't jam

I didn't say I gave them away. My 30 carbine and M1 is in Nebraska with my mom. Semi autos "assault?" rifles are "frowned upon" in New Jersey. They ones I sold were a bunch of old "cowboy style" revolvers that were in shabby shape and "off brands". Wallhangers the're called. I also sold both my lever actions because they would get eaten up in the sand anyway. I did keep this old "no name" Smith and Wesson American 44 clone That I found while lineriding for the Rushcreek Ranch. But that is too beat up to sell and it looks good mounted on an old piece of wood I found. Someone must of dropped it 80 years ago or so. My grandpop was big into the "cowboy" thing and I have all that gear coming out my rearend.

Got a St. Louis Hawken, .50 cal, and an 1847 Colt Walker. Both replicas. But I'd sure hate like heck to get shot with either one. Also happen to like the 1911A1 Colt .45 and descendants. Had one, but gave it away (to son). Long action Winchester .308 is nice. One day I'll get one of those funny revolver carbine replicas, just for kicks.
