A what now?? huh.gif
(not big on the old comic books wink2.gif )

JennRose
Wasn't that what those mutants who lived in the sewers were called? They moved underground because their mutations made them disfigured and unable to live among humans.
nick_fury
Ahhh no he's a junior x-man or something I think, probably one of those academy students in the movie
JennRose
Nah, he's a Morlock. original.gif
QUOTE

Little is known of the origin of the mutant known as Leech. He was presumably abandoned by human parents and discovered by the mutant known as Caliban. Caliban took the young Leech with him into the network of tunnels known as the "Alley" running beneath Manhattan which housed the mutant outcasts called Morlocks.
HotDogBun
Argh, kelsey grammer as Beast. This almost gaurantees beast will be nothing more than another Unrealistic CGI character, and that can ruin just about any movie for me.
Travisimo
Ummm im pretty sure Jean grey died in x-men 2...
can some1 explain?
HotDogBun
IN the comic books,. jean grey sacrifices herself on the moon to save the Xmen from whatever, then is ressurected as 'pheonix'

If you've seen the comics or cartoon series, Jean turns into the Pheonix. In the cartoon Pheonix has a short battle with Juggernaut and kicks his ass. Hope they do the same in the movie

The whole phoenix saga thing, she rises out of the ashes, bla, bla, jada, jada.

That's a REALLY cool pic, Nick! yes.gif
Mr Ed
In the cartoon she gets possessed. Sadly it looks like this is no longer the case. From what I saw in X Men 2 it looks like she has evolved into the Phoenix. I am having trouble seeing who the big bad guy is going to be.
JennRose
Well, the storyline (as well as the new X-men game) deals with Apocalypse, so perhaps it will start moving towards him? hmm.gif

Major undertaking! God that will get convoluted--different times, dimensions-- wacko.gif
RaginCajun
the bad guy would be magneto once more, but the bigger role will have to be phoenix. jean is the baddie this time. from what i have heard x3 will be a bigger role for cyclops. my guess is that the brotherhood of evil mutants is now complete with the additions of the new "mini" villians. x3 will BE ON THE PHOENIX. i don't see how they can fit the saga in a 2 hour movie though dontgetit.gif

if you follow the UNCANNY X-MEN then you will not be last as to where they are headed.

but you got questions i got answers
JennRose
In the early script review of it, Cyclops was killed off and Storm became leader. God, I hope that is not true. disgust.gif

that would really suck becuase i don't like the actress that is playing storm. she is overrated and her fake accent sucks. storm is suppose to be a charasmatic and a physically good fighter none of which this actress has.

the characters that is portrayed the best is xavier, nightcrawler, iceman, and jean.

the other characters are a no match. jackman is too tall for wolverine and the action scenes are the most dissapointing. marvel really needs to get into gear.

don't forget your copy of Batman Begins on OCTOBER 18 guys and gals. yes.gif

Personally, I think Jackmon is an awesome wolverine, and not just for personal reasons. laugh.gif A 5'3 man would look a little silly on screen, and the fight scenes are disappointing to keep with a PG-13 rating.

i don't think so at all. look at tobey maguire he's not a big fella. look at mr. bale in batman begins. though the actions scenes weren't much in batman, it blended in really well pg-13.

If a hero dies in a comic there is a 99% chance they will come back in one way or another.
rickfury188
I hope they don't sacrifice plot to get in as much CGI and fights in the movie. Don't get me wrong, but I can't wait to see Iceman v. Pyro and the "fastball special", but it seems like they have too many characters. I hope Ratner knows what he's doing. hmm.gif
Yelekiah
I happen to like the Phoenix saga. However, this cast doesn't excite me for some reason...
Dowdy
didn't the pheonix saga also have a team of mutant from outer space. One of the mutants was stronger than Juggernaut but i doubt they'll have that

I've heard that Omega Red is going to be in this. Is that true?
JennRose
I don't know, but why is Magneto dressed as Dracula? huh.gif
TheCrow
X-Men 3 is gonna be awesome. We are finally gonna get a comic book movie... an Xmen movie as oppossed to Bryan Singer's X-Men. Don't get me wrong, I like what Bryan Singer did and if it wasn't for him comic book movies wouldn't be the success they are today but Brett Ratner is a fan of comics (which Singer wasn't) and so he has the little comic book geek inside him that knows what cool things can be done with these characters and so on...

True, it seems like there are way too many characters trying to be crammed in but most of them are only going to have minor roles anyway and this is an X-Men movie after all, so cameos and whatnot of others mutants is good. And there is going to be a mutant prison scene so that's why some will be included.

With regard to Phoenix and the bad guy of X-3... Magneto will again return as the badguy but the overall plot of the film and main badguy is going to be Phoenix, who Xavier and Magneto combine forces to battle it seems. It also seems, that rather than been possessed by the Phoenix Forced, Jean will somewhat evolve into the Phoenix. We all know she is a very powerful psychic mutant with hidden capabilities and X3 explores her time as a child with these powers...

There are more characters than that I am sure... There is rumoured to be a scene where Omega Red (not all silver skinned like in the comics) and The Gauntlet are gonna chase Wolverine through some woods (possibly a nightmare back to do with his origin?) and Omega Red has most likely been introduced into X3 to set him up as a possible villain for the Wolverine spinoff movie.

The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants is more or less complete and there will most likely be a big Mutant brawl... Hopefully, with Ratner at the helm we will get to see some big comic book stlye group fights and hopefully get to see Iceman vs. Pyro and Juggernaut vs. Colossus.

Leech has been included because the story is rumoured to include a Mutant prison and Leech is used by the humans to cancel out all the mutants powers so they can't use them to escape.

We will probably never see the Morlocks as such and probably won't ever see Apocolypse on screen because his backstory of time travel and other dimensions and whatnot is just too complicated for the average movier goer... He would need some serious re-writing if they were to include him...

Bishop and Cable are also rumoured to be included as is Polaris, Psylocke, Stacy X and a couple more unamed mutants...

Aren't Cable and Bishop from the future, too? I mean, they woul dbe complicated to just throw into the mix.

And I remember the Stacy X rumours, but I think (and pray) they fell through. Brett was talking about casting his sorta, sometime girlfriend in the role, Serena Willaims. rolleyes.gif She is a weird character anyway-- pheromone control? Not exciting in an action film, but maybe in an X-rated X-men movie. laugh.gif

But I would LOVE to see Psylocke! w00t.gif
TheCrow
As far as I'm aware the Stacy-X thing is still happening, I can remember a rumour stating a couple people had auditioned for the role... That Serena Williams thing was bogus, for a start, it was first reported in british tablod The Sun so there ya go lol...

I don't beleive the Bishop and Cable rumours because it would be too complicated to throw them into the mix but I did read a rumour that they were holding auditions for for tall, well built black men so that's where the Bishop thing comes from. Cable I'm not sure, I just remember reading something about him but it was most likely just fan speculation... However it would be possible to alter Bishops history and just make him a mutant without the whole time travelling backstory, for instance in a recent comic series he is a cop working the downtown area...

There was also a report that some tattoo artist/artist who is suppose to be like one of the top guys in his field and worked on a previous Ratner film has been hired... And Bishop has a tattoo down the side of his face...

There is also speculation floating around that Havok, Cyclops's brother is introduced in this film... We know that someone dies in this film and it's rumoured to be a new character and we know Cyclops attends the funeral of 'someone close' so there is also that...

There has also been several bits of casting news about people who are in the running for a part or have signed onto the film but it's not revealed what character...

It is also, apparently, official that Omega Red is in the film via a picture that has surfaced on the net but it has been pulled for, well, obvious reason but I am trying to get a hold of it and will let you know when I get it... If I do I won't be able to post it cos UM could face some trouble for it so if I get it I will PM it to people...

Also two other characters who are in the film are Avalanche and Siryn
justcallmefox
so nice to see that they're finally going to include the rest of the main characters from the comic books. thumbsup.gif

So the whole thing about Cyclops getting killed off and Storm taking over is not happening? I am glad to hear this. I don't want Halle Berry to win a huge role just bc she is being bitchy. disgust.gif

But do you think it may be Jean's funeral, before she reappears?

Siryn was in the last film, right? The girl who was awakened and started to shriek before she was darted?

I am unsure... There could be more than one death... It could be fore Jean, it could be Prof X or it could be for a new character.

Yes that's right, I didn't think because she's never reffered to as Siryn...

Ok I have found a description of the trailer/teaser trailer for X-Men 3 which is supposedly due to hit cinemas in October. It is quite detailed and there are a couple spoilers so don't look if you don't want it spoiled. But with the length of it and of the stuff included in it, it has been speculated whether it is for the teaser trailer or for the first proper trailer or not at all and just made up. But here it is all the same, take it with a pinch of salt and again, don't look because it is a bit spoilerish, unless your ok with that.

Great Big Sea
I remember watching the orginal cartoon ( way before X-Men: Evolution) and the series was great. After reading the list of characters the movie sounds boring. Yeah I would like to see more characters with interesting powers or created ones. Just to make the movie's characters sound amazing instead of lame.
SoLLiZ
no gambit or nightcrawler, at least they got angel/archangel in it.

but why in the hell is sideshow bob playing beast???? that is really a lousy casting job.
TheCrow
Kelsey Grammer is Beast is excellent casting. True, he is quite old and not as agile as what Beast should be but they have probably got a stunt man for that and will do the more trickier bits with CGI. And you don't want a stunt man style actor with low acting talent playing Beast just because he could do all the stunts. You need a versatile, talented actor to capture his character and so on... Not only does Kelsey have the voice and the style to play Beast I also read that when he was testing for the role he absolutely nailed the character more finer, emotional points, which is why he was chosen.

NEW NEWS!!!!

Stacy-X is indeed in the film played by a model turned actor, whose name I have forgotten. Her character was not included in the script but it something the production crew were playing with. In the film Stacy-X is a mutant with the power of 'mind' controlling pheramones and she will mostly be following Juggernaut around.

And perhaps best of all, the X-Men 3 trailer will play in front of King Kong this December. This is great news because X3 will gets lots of extra exposure at the hands of King Kong, which no doubt, will be absolutely massive. King Kong is set up at Universal and because X3 is at Fox you might want to so ask your cinema first if the trailer will be played with it or not as some tend to mix and match trailers.

Meant to be. But it looks as if she has evolved from what I saw at the end of X Men 2. They have probably changed the original storyline, again.

if those two are here then where is apacalypse and gambit??????? the 4 can't exisist without the other. here:

nate grey---apacalypse

bishop---gambit

TheCrow
When Jean becomes Phoenix she became 'possessed' by a cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force but seen as though the X-Men movies are more grounded in science and reality than the comics, to suddenly bring in entities from space and so on would be like upsetting the balance. So they have most likely altered the origin behind.

And yes it does seem as though she evolves into the Phoenix. As RajinCujun pointed out, Jean has the power fluctuations throughout X2 and Cyclops talks to her about. That was obviously the start of her powers growing and going out of control.

I remember reading that X3 will focus quite a bit on Jean's childhood and what happened when she met Xavier. If I remember correctly, she was an extremely powerful mutant - moreso than Prof X - and as a child could not control this power so Xavier put mental barriers in her mind to stop her using this power... And I think that it'll be a case of, these barriers have broken down and all this untapped power comes to her and sends her a bit psycho (lol)...

On December 5th, the teaser is going to come out. It's going to be online, and is also going to come out with King Kong.

I've read a description of the teaser trailer... A group of internet journalists for various sites (Comingsoon.net, superherohype.com etc) were invited to the set for X3 and they got to see the teaser with Hugh Jackman) Link

[Spoilers]

New mutants, director recharge 'X3'
By Scott Bowles, USA TODAY

The mutants are back. Now they just need the humans to return, too.

X-Men 3 hits the big screen next year with our heroes facing their toughest challenge yet: a fan base anxious about how the franchise will fare with a new director at the helm.

Ever since Bryan Singer bolted from the series to direct next year's Superman Returns, devotees have wondered whether the band of superhero misfits could return with a film to match the caliber of the first two, which took in more than $702 million worldwide.

Star Hugh Jackman isn't worried.

"I wouldn't have come back if I thought we weren't going to do the series justice," says Jackman, who plays the popular mutant Wolverine. "I think X-Men— and Bryan — led the rebirth of comic book movies. We weren't going to treat a third one lightly."

Brett Ratner directs X-Men 3, which gets its first look here and opens May 26. Ratner is best known for comedy, including the two Rush Hour films, and studio executives concede that a regime change gave them pause.

"I don't care what director we would have brought in; there would have been concern," says Avi Arad, head of Marvel Studios. "We had to make sure we were coming back with something serious, something new, that would improve the series. I think we did."

The encore will feature new characters, including the blue-haired strongman Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, and Angel, a winged mutant played by Ben Foster (Six Feet Under). The plot centers on a cure discovered for our heroes' mutations, and their dilemma in choosing whether to remain individuals or blend into mainstream society.

"I'd never really thought about doing comic book movies before," Grammer says. "But this one has always been about what it's like to be an outsider. And we've all felt that way at times. I think that story line is what appeals to fans more than any filmmaker or star."

Fan Thomas Hay, 29, of Livonia, Mich., agrees. "They've got the whole cast back, plus more comic book characters. I'm confident. The characters and story are the most important thing."

X3 probably marks the last installment of the franchise.

"We really have become a family," says Halle Berry, who plays Storm, a mutant handy with a lightning bolt. "I'm going to be sad to say goodbye."

And moviegoers? Arad concedes there may be initial apprehension among fans. But "when they see how much we worked to stay true to the story, true to the characters, they're going to remember why they became fans in the first place."
