Did the Centaur mythos have a basis in fact? Probably not, but some archeologists have advanced the idea that Centaurs or hybrids between human and animals may have some truth if rock paintings and art are to be believed. Throughout the ages the frequency of animal teriantrops have shown up time and again in the Mythos of ancient civilizations and was common in Ancient Greece and Rome. Large amounts of artwork and rock paintings depict these creatures in battle with humans. The most common human-animal hybrid was known as the "Centaur" which was a horse with a human torso and was known to have a bad temperment.

Teriantrops which are known as human-animal hybrids were considered the result of "buggery", or the interaction between men and animals and in ancient times interactions between the species may have been encouraged due to religious rite or social temperments.

Does the "centaur" or other human-animal hybrids have any basis in fact or is it just the product of an over-active imagination? Does human DNA even have the capacity to merge with animal DNA? Hmmm...makes you wonder.

2 things:

1. I know that Humans can not cross breed themselves.

2. The big questions are is it possible, Is there evidence, what do you think, and why did a bird just fly into my window?

I will try to find some APPROPIATE pictures also.

(lol, love the pics) If this is so then there are a lot of outlandish things to be believed. Hybrids would imply people of ancient times tampered with DNA.
Where are the bones?
OtterLord
Where are the bones of Dragons, Goliath, and Bigfoot.

Same goes with the Centaurs.
Yelekiah
Not exactly. They excavated a lot of areas in Greece and found a triceratops which may have inspired a mythological beast. For years they excavate those locations. I think they would have found a centaur by now.
OtterLord
I think they should have found Bigfoot by now. but maybe something happened...

Yelekiah
The bones the Greeks found led them to believe in mythological beasts. Perhaps the same applies with the centaur. Like how sailors pin a monkey on a fish. Okay that was a bad example. But still...
Essan
The centaur arose from garbled accounts of the first encounters between non-equistrian greeks and experts horse warriors from the Russian plains.

Have you nopt heard the expression "they moved as if they were one"? Well that's what the greeks thought.....and thus the centaur was born.
