I grew up in a very small town in central california. In one area of our town where the wealthy residents lived there was a home that stood out . It was built by an eccentric man who was obsessed with the days of castles and shining knights in armour.
In front of this castle home, yes a brick castle, in the grass out by the roadway there was a specialy made box on a podium. I t lit up at night and in it was a small glass box that you could see in and it was a box about 2 inches by 3 inches and in it was a small wooden carved bear on all fours. nothing too special just a bear. under the glass part was a gold plate and engraved there was a story of how this bear was supposedly thousands of years old and carved from the wood of a spear that had slain a giant.
There were suits of armour all around the home and elaborate detail to make you think you were back in time. I oftened wanted to call coast to coast am when guest steve quayle is on. He is a giant expert and tell him of this and where to find it. Does anyone know of this bear or do they believe in giants??

while i reckon there were "giants" i use the term loosely as people were alot smaller back then, so to them we would be classed as giants, and tall tales exagerated the size of who they killed

Well, hypothetically speaking, I guess you could consider everything larger than yourself as a giant.
In some countries, I have seen livestock dogs up close, and some of these dogs were HUGE!, they would be compared to the "linebackers" of the dog kingdom.
Some times there is only one mabye two of these dogs per "land" or farm, with cyotes, lions, jags, just to name a few. some of these dogs wear spiked collars, as then they are almost always garrenteed a win in a fight.
I am sure there are genetic mutations within the animal kingdom.
As well as with the human kingdom.

My favorite area when dealing with giants, is not just animals, nor humans, but I guess you could think of them as super humans, the nephilim, the offspring of the fallen angels that rebbelled against god.

If you've ever seen authentic armor from the old days, people were a lot shorter. Someone who grew up to be 6 ft + would be considered a giant. And as the stories of these unusual individuals got around, the details would get messed up. Usually by exaggeration.

I'm sure it was the same with other "mythical" creatures. Someone saw something that to them was unusual. They described it and as the story went around, the details got mangled, exagerated, etc.

This would explain giants, any of the Wee Folk, dragons, chimeras, hydras (we KNOW snakes are occassionally born with two heads), and just about any of the other legends. So there is probably a grain of truth in almost all but the most outlandish tales, but it's so buried in the exotic details that it is hard to find. cool.gif

"Giants" as a race is a myth. A lot of the bones attributed to Giants were actually bones of creatures such as mammoths. This was fairly common in China, where in the western regions of China occasionally they would find mammoth bones in the melting permafrost.

There are still giants today!

Here is a large woman from Holland. She is over 6' 6" tall and weighs 320pounds or 146kg / 23stones! Why she needs high heels I will never know, lol.

The tallest women in the world is Sandy Allen she is 7ft 7 1/4 inch or Yao Defen 7ft 6 or 7ft 8 from China.

Some tall living men!

One of the reasons why people grow very tall is pituitary giantism which is a tumour on the pituitary gland. This defect has been around as long as man has, so maybe that’s where all the stories come from?

That dutch woman doesn't look anywhere near 320.

EDIT: the picture's a confirmed fake. She's 6'5", and not even Dutch.

Anyway, captain geek was right about normal tall people being exaggerated. Confucius had a reputation for being 8 feet tall; in reality it was more like 6.

I heard for every inch it is at least 10 pounds, I can see her being at least in the high 200's.
