True to form, I must vote for my hero, Freddy, though I will admit I have not seen half the movies listed. By the way, why was The Exorsist not included, or Lair of the White Worm?
Personally, I found Bambi to be quite frightening.

I chose Friday the 13th. The first one of course. The others (parts II, III, IV, V.....and so on...) do not compare.

None of these movies are particularly frightening to me. Has anyone seen Meet the Feebles? that's one hell of a disturbing movie.

It gives me unvoluntary nightmares.
My mind goes in the movies too much.

Has anyone seen Donnie Darko? One of the best bloody films ever made. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up...

There was a movie. rejected by dreamworks. it was the birth of the famous "omgwtfdie" pic. to this day, they say that every person who watched it was emotionally scarred by the images.
But anyway, Freddy ALL THE WAY!!!!

Good choices, schadeaux!

I thought I was the only one on earth who liked Lair of the White Worm (love those snaky women!)
I also vote for the original Alien (huge HR Giger fan).

When you all say The Ring do you mean the Japanese version or the lukewarm Hollywood version? I watched it today, it had a nice story, but it didnt scare me once, not even make me jump. Thats just not right.

come on people....what about the one where
they get chased down by their own clan,,fear the outside, fear dying and getting hunted down by the big brother of your own clan ,aswell as other clans you happen to cross over, and then the hero fights for his clan, and wins ,but he's baddly injured..and sees the afterlife before him....and dies ..boo hoo..it's not fare
it's a struggle for life/family/freedom
it's got fear/freedom/horror
and ofcourse heartache and joy

The Ring( Japanese version) scared me a bit!
In both of the version the 'haunted video' is just messup! In the American 'haunted video-tape' we have
1. An odd woman brushing her hair in a mirror, and turns around.
2. A man in a window who moves around a bit.
3. A scary looking girl backing away from a mirror
4. A bunch of dead horses.
5. A freakish girl coming out of a well.
6. A golden ring with a sound like eeeeyyyyoooowwweeeeoooo!
It was demetned!

I saw The Mothman Prophecies in this old theatre by myself with only like 4 other people who sat all the way in the back, and I was in the front alone. I was freaked out and had my feet up in the chair for a lot of the movie

Edit
I used to like airplanes before I saw Final Destination the day before I was supposed to be going to Las Vegas a few years ago. I'm kinda over it since I hope I die every day of my life now :\

I think The Ring was the scariest for me.. I had seen The Shining and the book is a lot worse than the movie.
As for some of the others, I could not comment on Friday the 13. I actually ahve never seen a Jason or Freddie movie.. never ever really liked them
Though I do love the Chucky Movies

We also have maggots, a box of fingers, a ladder, a tree, a nail going through somebodys thumb, a mouth with some weird thing coming out of it, a horses eye, Samora looking in a mirror, Anna Morgan (hairbrush woman) falling of a cliff
And more i can't think of. So there.

I voted for
The Ring, but only the original Japanese movie.
Check out the original b&w
The Haunting (not the Disney-esque modern remake), and
The Others, (providing you don't guess the end).
There's also
Ghostwatch, a BBC TV movie, now out on DVD, and
The Woman in Black, another British TV movie, and also bloody frightening!

Which one are you referring to the one from 1960 or the remake? I think the remake had some of the best ghosts in it, better than say most of the ones that have been put out in a long time.

Definatley the re-make, although for it's time, the original would have been quite scary, especially if you had the 3D glasses.

If you haven't seen the original, check it out. If you like stuff like the Silent Hill franchise, you might enjoy it.

There also was an eighties vampie movie i liked. I think it was called The Lost Boys, it wasn't scary but kinda gross.
