EL DORADO, Kan. (AP) — A judge recommended Wednesday that BTK killer Dennis Rader receive treatment as a sexual offender while he serves the rest of his life in prison for 10 murders.

In a hearing Wednesday at the El Dorado Correctional Facility, District Judge Gregory Waller also recommended restrictions sought by prosecutors on what Rader can receive or do in prison.

For example, Rader would not be able to receive any instruments that he could use to make anything pornographic to satisfy his sexual fantasies.

The judge's recommendations must be approved by the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Rader, a city worker who gave himself the nickname that stood for "Bind, Torture, Kill," was arrested in February. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to multiple life sentences in August for 10 killings between 1974 and 1991. Kansas did not have the death penalty at the time the killings were committed.

Throughout Wednesday's hearing, Rader, who was handcuffed, sat quietly with his legs crossed and showed no obvious emotion.

Rader's attorney, Steve Osburn, said the Corrections Department works on a system of reward and punishment to control inmates, and the recommendations would interfere with that system.

Rader also will be barred from seeing or listening to news reports about the murders and prohibited from making audio or visual recordings, other than for law enforcement purposes.

Come on people where is your compassion for this victim of society. He needs treatment for his condition and the department of corrections is the responsible party so fork it over tax payers. On second thought I have a much better idea. It would treat his ailments and keep the costs down to an acceptable level. Just shoot this low down scum in the head and bury him where he falls. Ohh yes that is a much better idea.

Victim of society?

Oh, well, sh**...he's a victim too. All is forgiven in that case. I am sure he is just as much a victim as the people he raped, tortured and murdered. He suffered just as much as they did. His life sentence is now commuted. He is free to go.

Yeah, I think it's a good idea to bar him from seeing ANYTHING about his muderous spree. That's how serial killers get their jollies. They get off on seeing just how much they can "get away with" & "how stupid the cops are". hmm.gif

It's just too bad that we can't take away his memories of it. Cause he isn't wired like the rest of us. He doesn't feel bad about what he's done. He doesn't see how sick & perverted it is to murder someone & then relive what he has done. That's what gives a sociopath joy & contentment in life...bringing mirery to others & reliving it again & again. blink.gif The follow excerpts from articles about him prove this face out:

QUOTE
Capt. Sam Houston of the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office testified about Rader's last known killing _ the strangulation of 63-year-old Dolores Davis in 1991. Rader, who handcuffed Davis and tied her with pantyhose, told police it took two or three minutes for her to die and that fueled his torturous fantasies for years.

After years of silence, the killer resurfaced last year with a letter to The Wichita Eagle that included photos of the 1986 strangulation of Vicki Wegerle and a photocopy of her missing driver's license. Her case had not been linked to BTK until then.

I'm a true crime buff. I've been reading about them since HS. They are just downright un-human. That's why I'm glad that legislation has been put in place to prevent criminals like BTK & the rest from profiting from their deeds by selling their stories. no.gif I'll be blunt...I doubt that this man has a soul, cause he sure does not have a conscious!!! angry.gif And to me, those go hand-in-hand.
