so this the deal:
i used to have a pentium II, very old, in the screen i could see a red pixel and i just tough that the pc was old so i really never bothered to much about it, but now that i have a new PC (and of course that includes a new screen), i noticed that the red pixel is still in the exact same spot were it was before, if i move my mouse over it, it actually appears above the mouse, and i can clearly see that is shaped like an X.

any way, any one knows what is causing this pixel and how do i do to "destroy" him?
it really bothers me when i'm trying to watch anime or playing some game, and i see that little stupid thing, making fun of me (like: ahah u got a new pc and still u can't get rid of me, lol you're such a looser. Of course he doesn't talk, thats just what i tough he would say if he could).

lol.
That's called a dead pixel, it's the monitor itself, not the pc that causes it. I don't think it's possible to fix it, even if it is possible it is probably easier and cheaper just to buy a new monitor.

I have one aswell sad.gif

but i already got a new one, is it just my luck that they always have this? probably!

Some new monitor's are faulty and the dead pixels just appear straight away, others can last for years without getting one. Maybe you could contact the manufacturer and they might give you a refund.

i must be lucky then, every monitor i've bought hasnt had a dead pixle at all, and ive had one monitor since windows 95 came out!

if i remember correctly, a lot of companies only replace if there is greater than 7 dead pixels. you'll have to check

i may have accidently made that up.

good luck.

I know it's quite annoying, my dad has 3 of them on his screen, but the company only willing to replace it if there are 5 or more (in his case it's a samsung LCD monitor)

Dead pixels is one of the reasons for me to stay with the old CRT monitors (the chubby ones), they don't use pixels tongue.gif

So there isn't anything you can do except for checking if the company will replace it for you..

good luck wink2.gif

They do use pixels, but in a different way. At the moment I have a dead pixel on my CRT sad.gif

They say that one pixel is not enough reason to trade for a new monitor, they will only do it if it haves at least 5, maybe I should consider myself lucky that it's just one.
...so much for buying a new LCD monitor (it's an ACER AL1715 [17"]) disgust.gif

any way, thx for the help ppl.
