Anybody know how I ENABLE this feature when selecting pictures and thumbnails to upload to my folder.

When you remote link (if I understand, it's the same as hot linking) it normally means whoever is hosting the picture has disabled it, to save them bandwidth so they don't have to pay for hundreds of other people using their pictures. I use Photobucket to host the pictures myself, that way I can use them.
