Author of Is It Really Haunted? Carol Gist and husband Dan of Monteagle have been conducting ghostly research since the late nineties. Directors of Ghostlabs Research Society, a 30 member team of ghost enthusiasts, Dan and Carol have produced enough legitimate scientific evidence that ghosts are just as much a part of this world as we are...
G.L.R.S. has led Dan and Carol to some interesting places, allegedly haunted, which
have produced unique data, including photos, video camera images, and low-frequency audio-recordings of ghosts.
One such finding is from Stone's River Battlefield in Murfreesboro depicting two women riding in a carriage, whom Dan and Carol believe may have been the unfortunate victims of gunfire during the Civil War. The ladies are dressed in period clothing, and are sitting upright, riding a horse-drawn carriage across the historic battlefied.
These findings have sparked the interest of such noted research organizations and celebrities as the Discovery Channel, the Travel Channel, GhostShip Films, Christopher Lee from the Lord of the Rings, actress Suzanne Somers, and Larry Underwood, "Dr. Gangrene" personality of UPN's Chiller Cinema.
"Christopher Lee contacted us about how to display ghost images accurately for the film, Lord of the Rings. Near the end of the movie, you can see a big bluish-white ghost image. That's the image we helped him with," she says.
Their website, ghostlabs.com which boasts over 2 million visitors since its inception in 1999, features an online club for the paranormal aficionado or curious spectator, plus audible recordings and photos from the Gist's ghostly encounters and skeleton-histories of some of the nation's most famous haunted places such as the Bell Witch Cave in Adams, Tennessee and the Le Prêt House of New Orleans. A research section devoted to dreams in addition to an online course lending certification to G.L.R.S fans as supernatural investigators "who pass with a score of 95 or better," says Carol, are now being offered.
Some of the so-called haunted places include the Sam Davis Home of Smyrna, Stone's River Battlefield in Murfreesboro, and even ghost-charged areas close to home including Monteagle and Tracy City. Electromagnetic meter readings, photos, video-camera images and audio recordings indicate the presence of something other than the tangible. It is apparent from G.L.R.S' research that the Gists have captured some rather bizarre and puzzling images and recordings, but the research is so convincing, it poses the question...do ghosts exist? G.L.R.S. says yes.
