Still all about Vampire Hunter D (only the first one mind you). If you're unclear what I'm talking about, Vampire Hunter D is an old anime that had one of the best depictions of vampires. Ah, gotta love the classics wink2.gif . Please don't watch the second one - different artist, bad, bad, bad...

I'm OLD enough to have seen Vampire Hunter D. innocent.gif

That hand was freakish. I mean, holy crap! That thing kept him alive. I remember being confused as to if he was Dracula. Don't tell me though, in case someone doesn't want to be spoilt. Ill check imdb.

Countess Erzsébet Báthory

QUOTE
The notorious Elizabeth Bathory, known as "The Blood Countess", was born in Hungary in 1560. Apparently her family members included witches, satyrs and lesbians. Elizabeth fit right in with this family from the beginning it seems, giving birth to a child fathered out of wedlock by a peasant boy.

QUOTE
A servant at Csejthe Castle, where she lived and ruled, taught her the ways of black magic. Thorko knew all about witchcraft, enough to teach her this practice she related to Ferencz in a letter: "Thorko has taught me a lovely new one. Catch a black hen and beat it to death with a white cane. Keep the blood and smear a little of it on your enemy. If you get no chance to smear it on his body, obtain one of his garments and smear it."

Really the only Vampires I've heard of are Dracula and Nosferatu. They're the most famous thanks to countless movies in the case of Dracula. Countess Bathory and Vlad Tepes are the closest I've seen to a real Vampire.

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Camuel le Boursier

Known in some parts of the world as:
Belatucadrus of Bats and Shadows

The Great Archives Record:
Slipping amongst the shadows, flitting between dark places, always quiet.

^^^It's in my sig. wink2.gif No one sees it though. sad.gif

I'm ashamed to post my name. But I'll do it anyway. grin2.gif

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Samael Vigée-Lebrun

Known in some parts of the world as:
Father of The Mountain Ash

The Great Archives Record:
A peaceful one, of tormented goodness, who lives in places of the Rowan where stakes are freshly cut.

The thing I'm ashamed of is "A peaceful one, of tormented goodness..." What the hell kind of Vampire is that? no.gif crying.gif

I haven't seen anyone mention the book characters! You ppl mention the movies and the real myths, but what about the characters that often inspire the movies? Jean Claude, Faust (amazing name for a vampire), Louise, Marius, Akasha and Menkare. I noticed that someone mentioned that they often keep their names after they are turned, well in one book they mentioned a vampire named Willie. I will admit I like the legends and the movies, but sometimes it is nice to kick back and read a good vampire book.

There so mysterious and their dark.

Immortality, I suppose. And people are drawn to the dark side of life. Human nature. You look at a car crash even though it's repulsive. I'm sorry, was that a rhetorical question.

No one likes good people. People like evil people.

I think that teens are attracted to vampires for a few reasons:

1. Feelings of social seperation
2. Teenage drama/vampire drama
3. Burgeoning physical desires
4. Grim beauty

Found this:

Vampirism
Melton identifies two groups of vampires who are involved in the Goth scene: “the metaphorical vampires, who adopt such trappings as sleeping in coffins, wearing fangs, and keeping nighttime jobs; and the ‘real’ vampires who drink blood and exhibit a psychosis. Many cross the lines of these groups, but almost all of them are adults with marginal incomes ‘who appear to be living out a fantasy world.’”16 The Los Angeles Times notes that the second group of vampires’ “lifestyle is beyond mere trend. They avoid the sun at all costs. Some drink blood and perform ritual magic. Most claim to possess psychic abilities. Some say they are tormented by wandering spirits.”17

The line between “playing” at being a vampire and actually believing oneself to be a member of the undead is crossed less frequently than some alarmists claim. Nonetheless, youth with emotional problems occasionally cross that line. Community services director Helen Carter states, “A lot of kids will do this, and they're just playing, but other kids get into it and lose their sense of reality… It can be just one of those adolescent things. But if you get a kid who has emotional problems involved, it can be deadly.”18

Rod Ferrell’s murderous vampire cult is an example of the danger of emotionally unstable youth dabbling in the occult. Carter claims that there are nine vampire cults in Arizona’s Paradise Valley. In most such groups a young adult is the leader, and followers are typically 14 to 18.19 A group in Arizona is led by a 20 year-old named Angel, who promises his followers will receive eternal life and unimaginable power, and follows an occult book called The Book of Nod (which allegedly describes the first vampires).20

Here, though I don't claim that this website is valid, since internet publications are not neccessarily truth.

Exactly. People also love bad news apparently. There was a magazine or something I think called Good News where they featured nothing but "good news". It was very unpopular and got canceled early in the game.
