The most obvious thing to do is ask someone living in Russia.

The next is what a Russian, with whom I'm in contact with, wrote me after I asked him about the video:

-------------------

about this Simkin' site:

(1) All Russian text on this site is actually a bad translation from English being made by somone whose native language is not Russian. What's make rock with laughter is an explanatory text under one of pics. On the English version of that page were 'Simkin' describes their 'find' we read (under one of pics): "Even sheltered from the wind, the cold gets inside." On the Russian one under the same pic (verbatim): "The shot was going before my jacket ("Âûñòðåë ïåðåä ìîèì æàêåòîì øåë." lol ). What the gibberish.

(2) On the page where 'Simkin' placed info about himself he writes: "My Address: 45 Artilleryskaya Street, Saint-Petersburg , Russia". But there is no number 45 in this street. This is very short street and the last number in it is 10 (I live in Saint-Petersburg ).

(3) About what people say on this video. Their remarks reminded me how some 'Russians' speak in Russian in some Hollywood movies. I assure you that if Russians had found something like this, they would have been a lot more emitional and more wordy (you know, some 'bad words" like Russian 'mat' and so on) then these guys on the video with their "Look, I see something, I found somthing!" - "He found something!" - "What is it? Look!" - "Some animal I've never saw before." ... lol

As for 'Polarneft', there is such oil-producing limited liability company in Russia but you can't gain some info of it freely (I tried but without success - it's necessary to fill up many forms and it calls for payment).

------------------------------------------

indeed
Nice posts Abramelin and darkknight.

Lets us all put this one to rest until it is brough up in a months time, by someone else thumbsup.gif and we will start all over again laugh.gif
The Council of Nine
Apologies for wasting everyone’s time...I was trying to breathe some life into Cryptozoology....which has become a proverbial dead donkey!!!...I actually think it is a VERY VERY poor attempt at marketing the game (still don’t think this is the case!) considering there is not even the slightest reference to the game!!!.. It didn’t have any of us fooled..just interested…surely its better than……Werewolf versus Vampire !!!!!...is this Cryptozoology or Top Trumps!!?!!...no wonder my visits are becoming less frequent!

I'm glad you posted it The Council of Nine. Was not a waste of my time at all. It was very much appreciated by me. Too bad it turned out to be a hoax, but hey... <shrug> one never knows...

I suppose we could have a 'dead monkey' thread. I'm sure there are unreported sightings, photos, vid clips, and close encounters we could discuss. I personally have witnessed the deaths of several monkeys in my life. I wasn't sure they qualified as cryptids, though.

And 'Werewolf vs. Vampire' is a viable myth/legend discussion, I feel. Not cryptids, though.

No apologies needed, CoN (?!). It may not have been an attempt at marketing a game, but then it sure must have been a hoax based on pictures stolen from a game. And a nice hoax it was !

Anyway, I liked it (and it wasn't a waste of my time)

Abe.

I've heard more about this game from this thread than through any other advertising medium (since I dont read VG news or magazines, and I do buy games).

Perhaps it is not such a poor attempt after all.

The last part of the video, the one where you see the heli flying off in the picture, is sort of a giveaway.

and the video is too nice looking. But it is a great marketing gimmick,to market whatever...

Yes, after weeks of utter silence, Boris has spoken. And frankly, I'm scratching my head.
Today I received an early-morning email from him. No greeting. No message. No signature.
