Can you say Yoda V.s Darth Maul? I can...in two languages.
Paranoid Android
I still never got a chance to really play the original. I'm looking forward to it though.

Ok just bought it and I must say... AWESOME!

- maps are larger ( I think)grin2.gif

-you get to play as jedi (occasionally) grin2.gif

-space battles! grin2.gif

-ship boarding! grin2.gif

-mission objectives other than "capture enemy command post's"

-more enemies, unlike in the last game, I dont think there's an enemy reinforcement limit making the game more of a challenge in my opinion.

-and maps that were left out in the original game
------------------------------------------

I give this game a 4.5 out of 5 rating

I only deducted the other half-point because

-some of the original levels are not there.

-it seems that the commando pistol and the blaster rifles are slower.

----------------------------------

otherwise its all good! I reccomend it!

I played the xbox version today for a few hours, splitscreen with my bother-in-law.

I was a little dissappointed, the graphics still seemed cartoony [to me at least], and I wished they had major battles from all 6 movies, but they skip over my favorite space battle, the end of ROTJ. Colors on the xbox seemed washed out, but there was no lag or anything, with tons of action on the screen. Space flight was cool though, great array of ships. Battle of Hoth was also memorable.
theomegacode
I bought this game for psp and xbox, both being awesome. Definitely better than the first. The space battles for xbox are kind of hard though, being that the right analog stick isn't used for free look.

Where is Cloud City and the Death Star?

Yeah, with all the new levels, unfortunatly they couldnt include all the original levels. I wish there was an episode 4 death star assault level.

but this game has DARTH MAUL!! grin2.gif
--------------------------------------------------
EDIT: in instant action or Galactic Conquest there are some excluded maps. grin2.gif

I got the game, and may I say I really can't tell if its that good or not because my computer is trying its damn hardest to play the game.

Online play rocks though. grin2.gif
Cadetak
I like how they have minor Episode 3 battles that u see maybe 3 seconds and a few made up ones like but forgot some of the major battles from the movies like...Nabboo Plains Battle from Episode 1, Space Death Star Battle, Second Death Star Battle,Genosis Arena, etc.

I also like how they have minor heroes like the two lightsaber girl and the old dude but fail to put in Qui Gon Gin, Lando, and Jar Jar...maybe not the last one.
_hAiLO_
Does anyone know how to unlock the specialized units in Online mode? Like the Droideka or Clone Commander? It always says 'you need 12 more points to unlock'.

God lets pray they did forget *** *** and hopefully in STBF3 thell put all the battles in yes.gif
PadawanOsswe
cool! you can play as Ewoks and Gunguns! tongue.gif
Cadetak
And Wampas! hAilo you have to get a certain number of points before you can use the specialized units. I think its like between 7 and 12 depending on the unit.

I actually want Jarr Jarr to be a hero so i could ill myself over and over again.

But how do you earn points? hmm.gif I've been participating in quite a few battles (and online battles) and I still don't know if i'm getting any points.
Radioactive Man
First off - I love this game. When TPM came out I was sort of a prequel basher, but my favorite aspect of the game is the clones vs droids. I don't really like the OT portion/maps, with the exception of Hoth.

The point system is a little screwy, remember in multiplayer you are competing with other teammates for points. I've played maybe 30 games online, and gotten to play the hero a few times. The point system is for kills/cp points. From exp, you need to stay alive and get mad kills to open those characters. 'Course, I am a little disappointed with the Clone Commander, his weapon kinda sucks, I don't like how it has to rev up.

Otherwise, awesome game, very fun, at least the prequel stuff.
_hAiLO_
Thanks for the tip original.gif . I too found the game very fun and interesting, but I wish I could play at its flawless level, where the frame rate is exceptionally high...compared to mine.

PadawanOsswe
can you play online as Jedi?
QuantumE
The first one was much better fun wise. The reinforcements for the enemy being limitless in this one was a stupid thing to put in. The game seems rushed to me.
mixxingmark
Nah, this sequel is better. The action feels more fast paced and there are tons of new maps. The enemy is only limitless in story mode, no?
Cadetak
You get points for gettting kills and capturing command posts and you can play as heroes online.

EVERYBODY NEEDS TO BUY THIS GAME!!!!
Paranoid Android
I guess I'll have to get it if it's that good. Question though: I don't have Xbox Live. Is the game worth it for single player campaign mode, or would I be better of getting Republic Commando? I'm tossing up between those two games at the moment, but if you're ultra convincing I might get a different game altogether.

Let us know, thanks thumbsup.gif

Regards, PA
QuantumE
Republic commanda is much better. You'll enjoy it more storywise and mutliplayer.
Cadetak
Republic Commander is kind of short and all it really is, is Star Wars Halo. I prefer Battlefront 2 because it has infinite replayability.

BF2 it is. Bought it yesterday. loving it so far thumbsup.gif

Bought this game a couple of weeks back... I like it so far.

The maps are decent and the graphics, while not Quake 4, aree more than passable, and with the resolution whacked up and on max detail with all sorts of fancy stuff enabled on my graphics card it looks very nice.

My favourite army is without a doubt the droids... they are so friggen cool. Rolling a droideka up to a group of clones, whacking your shields up and laying down a withering hail of laser fire is damn satisfying. Snipers are also good in this game, it really makes a difference when you find a map with some good players on and end up playing cat and mouse with their sniper who is taking out as many of your guys as he can.

Least favourite army is the rebels... aghh what the hell didthey do to them. The Bothan Spy is decent with its camouflage and incinerator but the wookie is AWFUL compared to the other special units... completely worthless. Ruins the side for me, especially considering the imperials have the Dark Trooper with jetpack and lightning gun. The clone army Jet Trooper is also great fun.

I find the Hoth map a lot of fun in multiplayer and instant action, brings out the little boy in me when I see the snowspeeders whipping cables around the AT-AT's legs and bringing them crashing down.

The special multiplayer mmodes are fun like Ewoks vs imperial scouts, or droids vs Gungans (kill Jar-Jar, yes!)... you can even play as the Ice Monster on Hoth and they are huge and fast, great fun.

Space battles... well I am so dissappointed with them. I know they had to make it kid-friendy but I grew up with the likes of X-Wing and Tie-Fighter, possibly the best games ever made... and the lack of cockpit view pains me no end, it's just TOO arcadey. However, boarding ships is cool, there's just not enough players online with any sense or organisation to get some combined attacks going.

All in all I am enjoying it though, 7/10. original.gif

I seem to be disagreeing with you a lot recently. And while I agree the spaceflight could be better, I by no mean find it bad. I find the systems better than BF1 (though they never had true spacebattle in the original).

Of course I could be mistaken, I just didn't like flying the ships in BF1

Regards, PA

Richdog
We have disagreed in one thread... I hardly call that a lot.

Anyway space battles are definately weak, I even hear that a lot online, they#re just not what they could have been. It may be good compared to BF1... but it's still bad. FAR too simplistic.... far too console-y.

Ahhh, I remember those days, X-wing and Tie-fighter, Classics!!. I find it appaling that a game from 1993 still blows a game from 2005 out of the water.
Richdog
Yeah it's very sad... Xwing Alliance marked the end of the glory days of Star Wars space sims. I hear there is a fan remake of Tie Fighter in the works though, and a group of people have been re-modelling X-Wing Alliance to have all up-to-date graphics etc so that will keep me going until the next best thing comes along. original.gif

You can't have a Star Wars game that has space battles and NOT have the Death Star.

yes.gif totally agree but still this game kick ass!!! thumbsup.gif
PadawanOsswe
I actually kick ass with the wookie's. and I bet there will be a battlefront 3.

if so it needs...

-more ships to board and take down in a space level

-more ship area's to assault, like the command bridge

-Death Star assaults 1 and 2!!!!!! angry.gif

-more maps! like the interior palace building.

-spiced up graphics

ect...

Tillghast
I asked for it at Christmas. Looked awesome!

Haven't played as the Wookie yet, but they have a heap more health than any other character I've shot at. You can unload a spray at them and they'll still be standing at the end.....

In story mode, I just finished the level wher eyou assault the Tantive IV. 'tis most awesome. it looks exactly like the opening to the original Star Wars movie, but seen from the Imperials side........ and with Dark Troopers, Scouts and Engineers......... tongue.gif
Tillghast
Dark Troopers are so cool! I love their shotgun.
Paranoid Android
Aaaaargh! I'm getting frustrated. I'm playing campaign mode and just getting pissed off at my teammates. I'm flying the space battle above Yavin 4. I'm lining up 10 fighters for the killing. I have them in my scopes. I take them down to almost zero energy. AND THEN A FREAKING "TEAMMATE" LANDS THE KILLING BLOW. So I don't get the kill and have to line up another shot. Considering I've got limited time to destroy them , the turrets and the bridge of the mother ships, and it doesn't count as a kill unless I land the final shot, i think I'd be better off without teammates! mad.gif

As you might have noticed, I'm not too great with the flying. i feel strange using the controls and keep using the wrong thumbstick on my controller to move my TIE Fighter/Bomber/Interceptor

Flying is for droids laugh.gif

Regards, PA

Edit: Yeah, I know, there's an option to skip the battle, but I'm just way to stubborn.

This is by far the best PC game I've ever played! grin2.gif

Some cheats for you, from cheats.ing.com

Cheat Player Invulnerability

While playing in offline mode, pause the game and input UP, UP, UP, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, UP, UP, UP, LEFT, RIGHT. A sound similar to the effect you hear when you pause the game will occur. This code cannot be turned off until you shut off your game system.

Cheat: Regerating Ammo

Pause while playing offline and input UP, DOWN, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, DOWN, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT. A chirp similar to the one heard when pausing will occur. Your ammo counter will go down, but will refill instantly when reloading.

Paranoid Android
Interesting. Might have to try them. Do you know if these are PC or console cheats?

Sorry I forgot to add, there for the PC...
StalingradK
I am stuck on the 501 raid to get the Death Star plans back... It's so annoying, the computers just run most of the time unless you fire at them like in Battlefield 1942.

Lmao, I'm stuck on the Order 66 thing.... sad.gif
Damned Jedi....
Paranoid Android
^^lol, how far have you gotten in the level.

This is how I did it:

-------------------------------------------------------------

NOTE: BELOW IS A FULL WALKTHROUGH OF THE LEVEL. IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW HOW TO DO IT (OR AT LEAST HOW I DID IT), DO NOT READ FURTHER

.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.

Start off as a Heavy Trooper. Hang back, take pot shots with your Blaster pistol. Run in, take out the turrets guarding the first CP. Keep running, that's the key. Send a rocket at the feet of the Jedi when they attack you, if you need to do that.

Switch to Clone Trooper, and regenerate/reload (find a droid to heal you). There's no time limit to get to the library (that I know of at least). If worst comes to worst, respawn. Don't run straight to the Library though. Give your troops time to converge there, give you some support. Just keep running. Shoot the Jedi trying to destory the bookcases. Worst case scenario, just concentrate on keeping one of them standing for the two minutes (remember, backpeddaling and shooting is always better than engaging a Jedi in hand to hand).

The next part, I switch to Sniper, and go up the main hallway (note: This was before I actually played in Domination, and realised that there's a back entrance via the upstairs section of the Library. I don't know how going up there will help you or not, since I've never been).

Anyhow, take out the troops with your sniper and then get the holodisk. Don't forget that two (or is it three?) Jedi jump down and try to take you out. Backpedal. They keep blocking your shots at them unless you let them get close enough to start a swing, so let them get close, then when you see them swing, nail them. The good thing about BF2 is that the Sniper's weapon actually is fairly easy to aim in normal combat.....

Take the holodisk and go down via the Library. Go down the side of the main courtyard, NOT down the middle. When the Jedi drop down to stop you, you should be past them, or near enough to as makes no difference. Sprint the rest of the way and (another good thing about the sniper that I've noticed is they're the fastest) get the holodisk back to where you landed.

Now, you have the option of playing as Annakin. Do so, and go up the stairs to your right and into the small courtyard there. Here, the Jedi with the holodisk is running amok. Take no chances. Throw Lightsaber at him and his companion's til he's dead (Alternate Fire). take the holodisk back to the ship.

Now there's just 3 Jedi Master's left. As Annakin, there should be no trouble. Throw LIghtsaber at them until their dead, or take them on one on one. If you get surrounded, block the blaster's and such using block button (I don't know what that is on PC, it's black button with Xbox). If you die, just use the Stormtrooper and unload your clip's at them until they die (edit: Shotgun supposedly works wonders for killing Jedi. Haven't tried it yet myself, go crazy wacko.gif)

Hope this helps thumbsup.gif

I agree. There's no teamwork whatsoever. Much of the time, especially in Hero Assault, you can have three teammates surrounding you and watching you die so that they can swoop in and get the kill. no.gif
