user posted imageCrowds outside St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., have been growing larger every night since a group of women first noticed that the eyes and heart of a statue of the Virgin Mary appear to glow. With many carrying still and video cameras and peering through binoculars, the crowd swelled to several hundred people of all ages as daylight waned Thursday, and the obvious glow of the statue's eyes and heart intensified. Even with some notable light sources, the reason for the glow was unclear. Light shined on the church and the crowd from inside the attached school building, where bingo was being played, and from security and streetlights outside. Lights on TV cameras and the fleeting light from flashbulbs also illuminated the scene. The sky was overcast and winds were calm Thursday evening. The eyes of the statue on the bell tower began glittering about a week ago, said Rocky Yeropoli, who has lived directly across the street from the church since 1974.

Yeropoli, a 35-year member of the parish, said he remembers the statue's being painted with gold leaf about 30 years ago but doesn't recall ever seeing it glow the way it has the past few nights. "It's strange. Last night, she just had a glow to her," he said Thursday.

Wow, that must have been something to look at, but, could someone not have gone up to the statue and painted fluorescent die on it, at some point?

judging from the picture. It looks as if there could be a light source reflecting off the eyes. Maybe a flash from a camera or something more permanent.

A buddy of mine does alot of trick photography and he has simulated the same result before.

I am very leery of these things since they can be faked so easily.

hey i heard about a famous virgin mary insident that occured years ago that got the attension of a lot of people. something about her appearing somewhere.
does anyone know anything about what im talking about. thanx
Aslan
Well if it was famous it would, by definition, get the attention of a lot of people wouldn't it.

Apart from that, something about her appearing somewhere does not offer much in the way of specific information. Are you. for example talking about the famous Virgin Mary incident the occured years ago wherein the Virgin Mary 'appeared' at her son's execution in the first half of the first century AD ?

Why not have a look through the forum, it is after all, an unexplained mysteries forum, and it may just be, if you're exceedingly lucky, that visions of Mary have been discussed before. I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a try.

no it was something caught on tape
it was like some kind of a virgin mary holograph looking thingy
Aslan
Main Entry: ho·lo·graph
Pronunciation: 'hO-l&-"graf, 'hä-
Function: noun
Etymology: Late Latin holographus, from Late Greek holographos, from Greek hol- + graphein to write
Date: circa 1623
: a document wholly in the handwriting of its author; also : the handwriting itself

I'm going to be presumptuous here and suggest that you mean hologram. If you do mean hologram I'm afraid the request is still a little vague (and possibly a little confusing now). However, there are many knowledgable people on this forum and 'virgin mary holograph looking thingy' may just trigger a few memories.

Geez aslan do ya have to be so rude to the poor guy.
Aslan
I was not being rude(*). I was simply indicating in an ebullient and mischievious way that prapes his request for information would not ellicit the required response due to a distinct lack of any relevent information whatsoever.

(*)By my definition of the word 'rude', which is admittedly fairly elastic.

sometimes all you may have to work with is a fragment of info. Then asking Questions would get more info to find what you are looking for.

Back on topic I think it's a hoax. Given that a coat of gold leafing had been put on the eyes and heart, the places glowing. I think It is a reflection of some sort.
