Just wondering, how real are secret societies? Do they really exist ?
The Silver Thong

How can you be so sure?-sorry wrong way of putting things,

I have read books, net and all that goes with it, I guess what I am trying to find out is how does someone know that they are the "same" societies? I mean people and their values I guess change overtime, there have been also lots of "false-unreal" secret societies that have claimed that they originated some hundreds years ago and latter found to be nothing but a boredom cure for a bunch of people.

SoLLiZ
the societies are real, what is said about them most often is just rumors and lies.
kik
How do you know which ones are real?

Sorry if the questions sound a bit off, just curious, and please don't reffer for me to read more books, I think thats what confused me in the 1st place. it would be nice if someone can just explain

thanks

Skull and Bones now accept women.I heard a radio show and the interviewer got talking to a member and she was a Muslim too. w00t.gif
It seems like their quite accepting these days. original.gif

The Priory was debunked several years ago. It was proven that the magic "list" that Lincoln and Baigent "found" was created just for them - on one of their own typewriters... so the long list of notables and non-notables were just a list of names created for/by them to support the book, "Holy Blood-Holy Grail". The name wasn't seen before the late '40s.

the stone cutters aren't real but made for a great simpsons episode.

just remember to call 912 in an emergency. its the real number.
Celumnaz
first question is are secret societies real.
Yes is the answer

next you ask how can you know if they're the *same* societies.
that's a totally different topic, but look at any connection between the people involved, and the agenda. if you don't have an agenda you've got a really crappy secret society...

as far as the rest... dunno. A couple great stories I read were:
http://watch.pair.com/merovingian.html
and
aww crud, I can't find that big one on the Jesuits. Man, it was long and had all the references bibliography etc...

Alex Jones has some good stuff on it at www.prisonplanet.com and related links... Jeff Rense too. Even Steve Quayle on his site.

There's non-religious angles on it all too... I just like the religious take myself.

Thing about secret societies... if they're not secret...

I was kicked out of the state of Texas for being in a secret society... the prosecuters just called it "organized crime" though.

Edit: http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/ has a little bit on Jesuits.... dang wish I could find that one real long one. Took forever to read but was a great read and lots of tasty tidbits that jive with other things on other sites.

there are very real

there's a wealth of information here on the International Military Order of the Society of Jesus

- here's a good read ; it's an interview with the author of the book "Vatican Assassins" informally banned in most of the world, Eric Jon Phelps. http://www.remnantofgod.org/blackpope.htm

The Jesuits. They're like the pope's muscle.

thanks for the info and links,

Of course, there are secret societies. I think they're overly maligned, though. Secrecy is not synonymous with evil.
