This morning I read an article in my daily newspaper (normal newspaper) about the curse of the Iceman Ötzi. The Iceman is a mummy found in the Ötztaler Alps in Italy. The mummy is more then 5000 years old.

The article said that since the mummy was found 7 people died who were closely involved with Ötzi:
1) Tom Loy analysed genetic material from the mummy. Reasons of his dead are mysterious according to a family member.
2) Helmut Simon discovered the Iceman and died in an unexpected snowstorm near the spot where Ötzi was found.
3) The leader of the rescueteam for Simon died an hour after the funeral of Simon. Reason were heartproblems though he was in a fine condition.
4) Henn (last name), forensic pathologist, who dug up Ötzi, died in a carcrash while heading for a pressconference about the mummy.
5) Fritz (last name), guide of Henn died in an avalanche. He was the only victim in his group.
6) The man who made a movie about the Iceman died short after the ending the shooting of the movie.
7) Konrad Spindler, Ötzi expert, died also.

I think the dead of these 7 people is a very tragic coincidence but i think it's a nice story for this forum. This story reminds me of course of the story about the curse of King Tut.
I have a copy of the article as PDF but it is in Dutch. huh.gif

Maybe we should just take a hint and stop digging up mummies? disgust.gif;

Dr. Tom Loy was one of my lecturers at uni and his death was very tragic but not mysterious and I don't think his family have ever said it was mysterious. He was sick for a very long time with a hereditary blood-related illness. I'm glad he got recognised for the work he's done but he never believed in the curse either

Thanks. Nice to know. In the article I mentioned it was stated 'mysterious'.
