Hi, guys....
Not only is BigDaddy a lover of mysteries, he also is a writer.
I'm wriitng a series of stories about a team of paranormal investigators and demon hunters belonging to a secret society called 'The Covenant of Thorns...El Convenio de Espinas.
Founded in the late 15th century, the Covenant was born out of the Moorish Occupation of Spain.
Church leaders opposed to the heathen Moors, rallied in the shadows and commenced a bloody crusade against the foriegn armies in their lands. Monks and priests, and commoners as well, combined their talents to help rid Spain of Moorish influence.
But as years went by, the Covenant became corrupted. What was intended to fight evil, instead became an instrument for persecution of nonbelievers. There was a schism. Some members of the Covenant broke away, and pursued inquisitions agaisnt those of other faiths. Others sought to battle the forces of darkness.
The Covenant, in the early 19th century, ejected those bloodthirsty inquisitors. Soon, the leaders of the Covenant set their sights on dark and demonic entities threatening human kind. They enlisted people of diverse faiths and talents to create a shadow army to defend Man from those things that go bump in the night.
In modern times, the Covenant has embraced technology, and the information age. Chapters have been founded on every continent, and in many major cities. Researchers, psychics, magic-users, and skilled hunters currently band together to unravel mysteries of the paranormal. And if necessary, to vanquish the vile intruders.

Thanks, guys.
It will be a dark, moody series akin to 'X-Files', but it will lend itself a bit to fantasy, like 'Van Helsing'.

Well, the Covenant of Thorns had its share of problems. During the Spanish Inquisition, and watch hunts, many of its members joined in the atrocities. It took almost two hundred years for the Covenant to regain its compsoure.
Once it had cleaned out the bad apples, it cast a wider net. There was evil aplenty, and humans shouldn't be killing humans over petty differences in belief.
The modern Covenant is caught between the need for secrecy, and the need to fund its efforts.
Each chapter is expected to be self-sufficient, to some degree. Legitimate businesses often finance chapters of the organization. Private donaitons, too, supplement it.
Discretion, is the Covenant' standing policy, is the better part of valor. Silence is golden, and must be maintained if their work is to succeed. If society knew of the shadowy world that existed in the alleys and graveyards, and what sinster forces lurked benath the earth, it would probably fall into ruin.
Curiosity seekers would plunge head first into those unsavory places. Well-intended do-gooders, too, would cross the border into no-mans land. And a vile, misguided few, would seek profit from that knowledge.
Humans, by and large, must be kept in the dark. Autohrities must be oblivious to the Covenant's activiites. For the safety of society as a whole, and to preserve the 500-yr legacy of the Covenant.
