In my opinion, being dead is not a sacred state that should be left undisturbed. For me, whatever value our soul has lies not with the deceased body but with some sort of higher power (Although I'm not religious) Therefore, my body is well, worthless. I'd like to donate my body to science, because it's better than buying a box and putting it in the ground to rot. That's waste if you ask me.

If my body had some unique and amzing usage to contributr I'd probably donate it..Since it doesn't though, I'll stick with being buried though..I may be dead, but it still belongs to me; and I don't want anyone else having it..Except worms, I guess..

Maybe if my body had some rare disease never before seen, otherwise i'd have to say no, simply due to all the mishandling of bodies donated to science that i've heard about.

It is sad that there are billions of people on this planet and only a few donate their organs after death

but me personally, i'll be getting cryopreserved.

I don't care what happens to my body after death. Of course, first I want them to take every viable organ and tissue to help others. Whatever is left over can be used however someone wants it to be. It will mean nothing to me after death. Although I always liked the idea of being ground up and used as fertilizer for some really beautiful flower.

If we (doctors, scientists..etc) didn't 'mess with nature', a lot more people would be dead right now. Maybe even you.
I voted yes. Healthy bodies are donated to medical schools so they can play with the body.

Though I do feel a bit sorry for those who are on display at the Franklin Institute.
For those of you that don't know, Various people that donated their bodies to science were skinned, moved into everyday positions (walking, running, skateboarding even) and freeze dried.

I'd rather be frozen cryonically, but if that wasn't a possibility, I'm game for my body being cut up in a science lab. Although, that will eliminate what I was really hoping to happen to my body when I die: I want to be stuffed, and stuck in a closet in someone's house to scare people.

As to donating my self to science? I don't know. But there are a few folks around here that I would gladly volunteer...........

Why not?, I've talked with a few med students and they are more than respectful of the corpses and realize the seriousness which goes with making the decision to allow one's body to be used for scientific purposes. I personally have nothing wrong with this and believe that it would be very beneficial. Just think that you would be helping someone who for the next thirty to forty years will deliver an untol number of babies, conduct surgery, as well as perhaps become the next Jonas Salk.

For real, what's the point of burying the body? It becomes fertilizer. Burning it? Your body will become dust soon enough, the least you can do is help someone else out. You can't take this flesh with you.

Medical training 'bodies threat' http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4435184.stmDoctor training is being undermined because of a lack of dead bodies to study, the government says. Two courses have already been cancelled this year because of a lack of cadavers and experts said more will be hit if the fall in donations is not reversed.
The government has blamed rising medical student numbers, TV shows and the Alder Hey scandal for the problem.
In the last five years, the number of bodies being donated has fallen from 670 to 600 across England and Wales.
This has been coupled with a rise in medical students - since 2000 eight medical schools and 15 postgraduate anatomy departments for surgeon training have opened.
The Department of Health said people had been put off following the recent Channel 4 TV series Anatomy for Beginners, which showed German doctor Gunther von Hagens dissecting a body.
And potential donors have also said to have cited the scandals over the unconsented retention of body parts at Bristol's Children's Hospital and the Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool.
A Department of Health spokeswoman said there was a degree of confusion about the issue as the cases were not related to anatomy studies.
She added: "England has an enviable reputation for training some of the best doctors in the world and there is a risk that without these donations students and trainee surgeons will not receive the best training.
"If this downward trend is not reversed medical students will soon not have the opportunity to learn their anatomy from the best "text book" - the real human body."
But the British Medical Association said it was not aware of the problem, pointing out medical schools were increasingly able to use technology instead of dead bodies.

I like the thought of still being able to help people even when I'm gone. If someones life is saved through my death then thats fantastic!

I don't mind at all..my soul would have been long gone!

You could have it in your will to specifically NOT want your body donated and, if the need was great enough, they'd go on ahead and slice ya' open.
I'd put an eternal curse on them *wwooooohhhh!*

My hubby doesn't really agree with me, but I figure if I can help anyone out when I'm gone it's all good. But I don't know what they might be able to use.

So go for it!!
All I ask for is that my liver & /or kidneys will go to someone who will use it & appreciate them NOT abuse them.

If I am dead, and I mean real dead not kind of on the
edge and they want to help me get over "life" so they
can saw me over then yes.
What good is my body doing in the ground anyway>
They may as well use me for some weird tests and
stuff, learn something on me and maybe not have to
kill a monkey, seems like a win/win situation to me.
