Full Version: The dream thread-what have you been dreaming?

I haven't had a lot of success with remembering dreams, but I've been trying to change that and I've progressed to where I can sit and write down what I've dreamed. We've had a recent thread where a good member recounted her own dream and what it portained for her and her family. To build off of that thread, I'd like to start this one about what people are dreaming about as of late, as well as talk about possible interpretations of those dreams. Now I know that this isn't an exact science, and I'm a skeptic at heart. I'm just curious as to the experience of others and whether or not over time(or previously) they will(or might) come to fruition. Here is mine from last night(11/8)

-I had this dream in cartoon animation coloring and it was of the design of North Korean propaganda(if you don't know what this looks like, google it) There were three identifiable armies that pushed through an allied nation in waves and then were making up-close menacing remarks in regards to us. crying.gif According to the fine book, 10,000 Dreams and their traditional meanings, dreaming that your nation is defeated in war is a possible sign that it will undergo an economic or political revolution in the near future. Now this book has a lot of symbols that if you dream of, what the implication might be, though it doesn't go through subtle differences, such as my dreaming of an allied nation and not us being invaded, only threatened. With that being said, it was a disturbing dream in that I woke up and tried to digest what all I experienced.

So, any thoughts?

What have been some of your most recent dreams?

What have been some of your most recent dreams?

First off, very few dream are ever of prophetic nature. I don't think yours has anything to do with economic or political revolution in the near future (even though that still may be likely). Your dream seems straight forward to me. Cartoonish dreams interpret as perceiving the world in an unserious matter or an escape from the stressful realities of life. War and invasion both represent a need to be more assertive. The number three is a masculine number that sometimes represent attitudes toward authority. Seems like your dream is telling or helping you with the need to be more assertive and serious in your waking life.

OK, I'll give a description of my latest vivid dream. I was in a building that had many different levels (could have been a mall). I felt like I had super-powers and was violently hitting young women and throwing them off very high balconies. In the dream I seem to be actually enjoying it even though I would never ever commit violence toward a woman in real life. I almost felt guilty having the dream but realize it's just a dream.

Samuel L. Jackson and I were chilling out. And then he suddenly turned into a giraffe. Yea, it was one of the weirder dreams I have been having. I miss my Angelina Jolie/winning the Nobel Prize regulars.

What does turning into a giraffe mean?

Seeing a giraffe in your dream probably means you are trying to figure out where life is taking you. The long neck symbolizes a way to get a broader view of life. Samuel L. Jackson may also be the same thing if you usually view him in the Pulp Fiction role instead of the other roles in other movies. Interesting dream.

All I could find in my book was that if you are arguing with a woman, that you will be outwitted and foiled in some way. It didn't have anything about pitching them over the edge of great heights. grin2.gif In general, it also indicates intrigue.

Thanks for your comments to my original post, I could see the theme of assertiveness arising from that. Yes, I don't believe that it is prophetic, but if we have another 1968 in the next few months, I'll start to wonder. huh.gif hmm.gif ohmy.gif

11-9-three different ones tonight:

--Different kinds of fish are trapped in "bubbles" and are descending to the ground where they pop and then die. My struggle is to keep them from doing so and it's a bit stressful.

--The next part has me in a car chase being pursued by someone. I'm with some friends and we are driving through a park and other busy areas trying to elude whoever is chasing us. At certain points in this dream, I'm hiding in the bushes marvelling at the chase.

--I can't remember specifics other than something falls on top of me and I joltingly awake in bed.

Interps--Dreaming of dead fish might indicate loss of wealth or power; the speeding car thing could indicate successfully pulling off a scheme; I have no idea what to think of something falling on me and causing me to violently awake like I did. hmm.gif

I know what mine was but didn't put the interpretation. I'm 36 years-old and signed back up to go back to school this last Saturday and sent off Monday (the night I had the dream) for official transcripts from other schools I have attended. I've been out of school for a year and a half. I probably have more school hours than some people who have Masters and I still don't have a Bachelors yet.

The multi-level building represents higher education and the women represent my emotions of not finishing college by now. I was basically getting rid of my self-doubt about finishing school and doing something about it.

Now on to your fish and bubbles. Bubbles usually represent wishes and unrealistic expectations. Fish could have many different meanings and I would have no idea which would apply to you. So, I'll give themm all out and let you decide. The fish could represent your inner-self, which could mean you had childish expectations of yourself in the past and don't want to get rid of them but are finally realizing you must move on. Or, the fish could represent fertility, which means you are looking to starting to think about having a family with someone but realize that it might be unrealistic with the person who you are thinking about starting the family with or you ain't getting none. I don't know you personally. So, I have no idea if any of this applies to your situation. The fish could still represent many other things.

I would say this was you merging your mental masculine and feminine aspects of yourself to make you feel healthier. Kind of a self-healing thing.

Hey chris do me?

Ok I had this dream a few weeks back. I was in this huge building with 30 foot ceilings. I was in some sort of class, but we were all standing in rows. There was a guy standing at a podeum thing giving us a lecture. He finishes and me and this other guy look at each other and I say, "we have to follow him." He agrees; It seems he didn't finish or I had a question or something like that. So we try and figure out where he went. This place is huge, but I'm not lost and we never find the guy. Then all of the sudden lots of people are in this one area that turns out to be a mall like place. I turn around to see George W. Bush. He looks at me and stops (was walking perpundicular to me) He points to a 16' by 16' "sandbox" and says,
"Do you want to die and start over?" At this point he no longer seems like george bush hes really god or something like that. I say, "No." "Then follow me." So I follow him and he leads me to a bathroom. All those people in the mall area (which I'm still in) are looking at us like wow that kid is lucky for hanging with Bush. "are they friends?" one says. He ignores all of that and we enter the bathroom. He stops turns to me after I shut the door and says "No, Lock it" So I lock the door. Now he rips off a piece of wall and there is a hole behind it big enough to fit into. He says to me after pulling out his pistol "Im going in come after me in 5 seconds I have to take out the guy at the end." I count to 5 stick my feet in first as he did and right then I wake up.

what do you think about that?

EDIT: one thing I forgot to say: This dream seemed very important to me when I woke up which Is why I remember most of it.

OK, here's what I think. The classroom represents anxieties and since it has very high ceilings I say the anxieties are about taking on new roles, developing new strengths, or emotional expansion. Being at the mall means that you might be trying to make a favorable impression on someone. Since you ran into the President, you may also be looking for recognition. The sandbox is showing that you are taking a situation too seriously and you need to lighten up. Since the President turned into God, you might be trying too hard to be perfect. The bathroom in your case probably reflects back to earlier training/conditioning (potty training) when at that time you were also probably trying to appease someone (your parents). Putting a hole in the wall is breaking through some of your emotional barriers on a situation.

To sum it up, you are being too serious about trying to please someone by trying to be perfect with some new responsibility and if you just let it all out you will realize whoever you are trying to please already knows that you are doing your best and appreciates it. It's no big deal. Relax a little bit. Since it was a few weeks back, you have to look at what your situation was back then. You may have already lightened up.

I forgot to add about the gun. The gun is a symbol of protecting your emotions once you busted down those walls. The same goes for locking the door.

Okay me next.

I don't remember most of it though.
I was walking around and suddenly I hear that a madman was on the loose. Some scenes here that I don't remember. Then suddenly I get a text that my younger brother got hit in the crossfire. Next thing I know I'm amassing shotguns, find the guy and shower him with bullets in the middle of the street. After that somebody asks me something, I think it was maybe "Are you okay?", after that I get a view of my back clutching a shotgun, surrounded by some spent casings and bawl my eyes out.

Freaky no?

I truly haven't remembered more than one or two dreams in my entire life until I moved to my home now..
Nowadays they come with disturbing frequency..
Yesterday, I dreamed that my son told me he was on a ship; whatever the Hell that might mean..

The madman represents some aspect of your life that may seem out of control. Your younger brother points to that you need to toughen up and act like a big brother and be responsible to get this aspect in control. The guns represent your anger toward the situation. Emotions like crying are exactly that, your emotions. These emotions aren't symbols of anything else. Sometimes they happen in dreams because you won't allow it happen in real life.

Your son could represent some of your own ambitions you had when you were younger and the ship could represent some process of inner transformation. Were you thinking about doing something you have always wanted to do and never had the chance before you had this dream?

I've had the same dream 3 times. Elton John and two of his friends try to kill me.

It's true; but I'm startin' to listen to more of Elton John now. I havn't had that dream for a while.

Another one.

I was talkin' to President Bush, then a terrorist airplane drops a bomb. I run as fast as I can, and I know where I'm going; I was in a video game I was familiar with (Grand Theft Auto III). I ran to a pier (it's as far as I can go with out fallin' in the water. I can't swim. grin2.gif)

Then, all of a sudden I see my favourite band, Queen, preformin'.

Bush, GTA, and Queen.

try to interpret this dream!
I was with 2 or 3 friends and we were all stuck in a huge canopy of trees that seemed hundreds of feet from the ground. the only way down was too climb but after a while I started to get impatient so I let go of the branches. every now and then I would find a thick vine to grab hold of so I didn't plummet to the ground. eventually i was hanging off a branch that snapped about 30 feet from the ground. my friends were scared but for some reason I knew I wasn't going to die. strangely enough when I landed it didn't hurt at all.
when my friends reached the ground we found all these fields and this lake which was surrounded by beautiful mountains. this wise old guy went on about how we could'nt enter that land, and only certain peaple could enter it.
i found this dream very strange but I felt it was a good one in some way

any thoughts?

Yeah, lately I've tried to stop myself from crying when I actually felt like it. The rest is true. Heh, I read my horoscope that day and it said that my dream contained some meaning, I didn't know it was THAT deep.

ive had lucid dreams all my life, it comes naturally i guess. i even controll what happens, to the extreme (although thats no fun) i can decide everything and anything that goes on in my dreams. (ive stopped doing it on account of it got boring and lost the thrill of sleeping) i almost always remember then too,,,, but if you controll your dreams, does that mean they can be intrepreted in the same way?!?

Sorry about that. Your gender wasn't in your profile and the dream was very masculine. The dream would have basically the same meaning except that you were being more protective than to feel the need to be more protective. I would think that would be the only difference in now knowing your gender.

For everybody else like glenndo4000, maybe someone will else will come on here and try to help interpret your dreams. I can't come on here everyday and respond. Dreams are very interesting. I tend to go with the psychological explanations about dreams, such as the explanations given by Freud and Jung. I don't rule out prophetic dreams though, but I do think they are rare. I think they usually give the dreamer some kind of hint on how to avoid some kind of danger that usually happens within a 24 hour period. Those are pretty personal and would be hard to study or objectify. The other prophetic dreams would deal with a large world event and the dream would usually be repeated the exact same way for three times and the event would normally happen within a month's time of the last dream. The event usually doesn't happen exactly the way it does in the dream either. Say someone lived in Wichita, Kansas during August 2001 and had three dreams of a building in his city being bombed and then on September 11, 2001 you found out that terrorists flew airplanes into the WTC. Would you connect the dots? This seems to be what happens and it really doesn't help anyone because the real events weren't the dream events. OK, enough talk about dreams for me.

Okay I got a new dream thats been bothering me.

I was visiting my female cousin and I had called my sis to catch up. I found my female cousin lying on the bed wearing a white shirt. I got the shock of my life when I saw her skin, it looked god-awful, reminded me of over kneaded dough. I asked her if she was alright and she said she was fine, I then noticed some black dirt on her left neck. She then got up from the bed and led me outside. It was nightime and I saw I some trash on fire, I turn to my right and there was my female cousin beside a white car. I then remebered my sister and asked my female cousin where she was or if she could wait, she said forget about it and I sat in front. I was amazed because the interior was all white and the steering wheel seemed to be half the size of an original one and it seemed that she could shift the wheel. I asked her again if she was alright again and she irritatedly said she was alright. I then became aware that there was another person inside the car, I think he/she was at the hospital earlier but I remembered him/her just now. My female cousin got in and drove with only one hand, I asked her where we were going and then I woke up.
