Actually, it's not too far fetched. In college, one teachers told me that many anthropoligists were surprised the male population was dominant in almost all cultures, especially tribes.
The reason......... women procreate, men do not.
So a women could give birth to male children and kill them instead of breeding her oppresser. The women of course would keep a few males around to get some seed, and kill the the men after donation , and only let the female babies live to rule the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Um...I think you missed some of the deals like...predators...and...hunting...and...so on. Men are evolved to do that kind of thing. A society populated completely by women would be floundering in many areas (especially the sciences), just like a society without women would flounder in others (teaching, languages and, of course, there would be a massive chocolate surplus).

As much as modern standards try and teach you men and women are the same...we're not We're wired up very differently from the lads to favour specific tasks, and even in today's world, we need each other in order to move forward as a society.

Oh, and there is just one...more thing...about the...killing all the guys thing...doesn't confuse me that they didn't do that...evolution and preconditioning aside...take a look at the size of the average man, and then the average women, and you'll figure out why guys started out on top

So, what you're saying it, you're surprised that mothers did not conspire to kill their male children? Siblings? Parents? A mother is more likely to kill the entire tribe in an effort to protect her child, male or female.

The whole arguement is confusing human beings with bees...it's not how we work, and the fact is, women of the time also didn't think the way militant feminists do. Their job was to protect the nest, men's job was to go out and kill things.

It actually scares me that some anthropoligists...who are supposed to have a degree in anthropoligy...have so little understanding of human behaviour.

The main point of my first post was that women procreate, men do not, therefore, it is possible to have a world with out men. It may not be the same world that we know, but life could go on. Men cannot procreate, therefore if something happened to all the women, life would cease to exist.

The only one that has made comparisions to animals and militant feminists are you.
In tribes and modern society, it is not so black and white..... women do more then protect the nest and men do more than hunt and kill things. You do not have to be a modern day militant feminist to go about killing your male young.
There is a tribe (I forget the name) that is pretty much dying out. They have been exposed to aids. At the age of 6, (if you live that long) you are on your own to hunt, kill, find shelter. It does not matter if you are a boy or girl. There is no mother, father or other tribe members to protect you. It is every man, woman, child for themselves. This tribe also laughs at each other's pain, suffering, etc. The mothers of this tribe are not considered to be militant feminists. In China, mother and fathers abandon their daughters. Daughter are not as valued as males. These daughter are left in cribs, carrycots etc, and no one lets them out to learn to crawl or walk. There are tribes (I think the Yanomami are one of these tribes) where sometimes fathers have sex with their daughters. It is considered a very special relationship if your father choose to do this with you. These are cultural differences. All these cultures, have defined human compassion differently.

Anthropoligists studies these cultural differences, to understand human behavour. They are obligated to study human behaviour objectively. They can not interfere.

Depending where you live, and what society has deemed acceptable a mother may not be more likely to kill the entire tribe in an effort to protect her child, male or female.

So in answer to your question

Just...one thing...sure, women procreate...but I heard this crazy rumour they can't do it alone The continuation of the species is no less dependant on men than it is one women.

Certainly, we do have sperm banks...but the sperm has to come from somewhere, and what is currently stored is not going to remain useable forever...even if it was, it wouldn't be a very good idea...the gene pool would be shot to hell...

Assuming cloning ever advances to the stage where we can simply "make" people, then there's no need for women either...babies could likely be grown in a lab, in artificial conditions, without the need of a womb...and given that the sciences are dominated by men, I wonder which gender that favours...

I don't think women should even TRY to be equal or superior. Sounds weird coming from a girl, I know, but think about this: Women, as a whole are just better at some things than most males, likewise, Men are just better at some things than most women. Why would women, or men for that matter, try to be equal or superior at all things? THAT would never happen, because by nature we are not equal OR superior OR inferior, just DIFFERENT!!!

For example, can you imagine all the women you know becoming infantrypersons? Mom taking up an M-16 to storm Baghdad? I know there are perfectly trained female soldiers, but an entire army of them? WHATEVER! In defense of women everywhere, the worst place to be is between a mother and her children...

An even better example: Can you imagine most of the men you know giving birth? Ever seen a guy with a cold? Or better yet, a kidney stone? My guy is a tough guy, but he's praying for death when he gets a headache...can't imagine him with menstrual cramps. EEEK! But is his defense, there is no place I'd rather be than curled up next to him on a stormy night.

I don't think the Y-chromosome is going anywhere, but I do think the emasculation of men is going on on a daily basis...if that's what they mean by the disappearance of the Y-chromosome, then I think it will be sooner than 125,000 years!

lol, agreed...geez, there's actually a law over here that says 50% of MPs, regardless of ability, qualifications, experience, or any such thing, HAVE to be women...am I the only one that would rather have people in there who can do the job best, and give seats to whoever deserves them based on that, than making sure the ratio works out 'just right' to make all the campaigners happy?

In any event, social equality I don't mind...which again, I think we have (with the exception that women can say and think whatever they like about men, but if a man says or thinks what he likes about women, he's considered a "pig"). In employment though, it's just not practical...we're wired for different tasks, and enducating children that we ARE the same, and that we ARE as capable at everything....yeah, I think you're right.

Thanks to the universal education system, it's all turned on it's head...will say this though *looks around* there's this school in england where test questions are geared towards gender....guys get questions about measuring the dimensions of a technicians table, or the distance travelled over time by a truck....girls get questions about the dimensions of a garden and so on. Different items, but with the same figures and calculations to be done.

So far, the test results for both genders are actually higher than average in the 'universal system' You might be right...maybe the way we're being brought up IS wiping out the Y chromosome Men and women just can't think like each other.

If it does happen though, does that mean the human race will then be asexual?

It seems humans are the only ones being hilighted...which is why I think it's rubbish. Why on earth would human Y chromosomes be going down the tube, while every other species is fine?

The Y chromosome has been around for millions upon millions of years....I doubt very much it's suddenly going to decide "hey, I think I'll just die"

I remember reading a book about a lesbian fertility expert that made babies using only female eggs for lesbian couples. She would strip one egg to the nucleus and insert it into the other egg to fertalise it and the baby would be both parents and of course the sex would be a girl.

So if men do die out, perhaps this is a possible solution to the problem. Don't get me wrong, I love men and I have a son, so I'm not some raving lesbo man hater, just perhaps science would find a way around it.

That doesn't make any sense...if only one of the cells had a nucleus then it would only be getting half the compliment of chromosomes it needed...

You're talking about somatic fusion though. That's been done in plants, true, but animal cells are very different...egg and sperm cells (in humans) only have 23 chromosomes each, as opposed to the 46 in body cells...the full compliment is made by combining the 23 of the sperm and egg....so what the lesbian women is proposing is a human with 23 chromosomes...I don't think that zygote would live too long...

Yes, I have heard about the lesbian baby expert. They are working on it for gay men as well. I think, I read out it in the gay mag BUST. I think that's the name of the mag. Haven't read it in a few years. And, if I remember correctly it only comes out 4 times a years. I'm not sure how I feel about it, tho. Why go thru, all that trouble when there are other ways to have a kid.

The nucleus is inserted into the unfertalised egg (untouched and still containing its own nucleus) thus creating a fertalised egg complete with all chromosomes.

Is that better?

Anyway, I like a bit of rumpy pumpy and don't much fancy becoming a race of lesbos either.
