I see all these new games coming out with thier superb graphics and gourgeous cutscenes and i think to myself, why hasn't square-enix gotten off their butts and made a new Final Fantasy Tacics? With newer graphics, a revamped battle system and way more character, or even better, a create your own character, I would gladly buy a 2nd to one of the collest rpg/tactics games ever created but alas, no word that a second (fft advance does NOT count) is on the way.
Fable
I completely agree. Hands down it is the best strategical rpg that is out there, and why they have not done another is absurd. Plus the fact that when they brought FFTA out, it dwindled the popularity some. I'm not sure why they did that game, but it happened. Just think about what a true FFT game would be like for the PS2, or hey even the PS3? That would be incredible.

Why do you guys not like FFTA? I really liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the whole "rules" thing, but that wasn't too bad.
Fable
Although I dislike comparing at times, you have to do so with two games such as FFT and FFTA. The battles were extremely easy in FFTA and there really wasn't that much to the game. Of course it is on the GBA, but the system can handle more than the game gave credit for. There was nothing memorable about it, other than it was quite limited. The characterization was poor and the skills were not thought through.

By putting those two together since they are in the same "category", there is no way possible that FFTA can live up to FFT as any type of continuation of that genre. I've played FFT through many times, but I'll never pick the other one up again.

Square-Enix has its hands full...Final Fantasy 12,Kingdom Hearts 2,"Compolation of Final Fantasy 7", Final Fantasy 3 DS, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicals DS, FF11 360 etc. etc.

Not to mention next gen is coming so FF13 im assuming will start right after 12. If another Tactics game comes out it would probobly come in the form of a handheld...i kind of like it like hat.

I found neither of the games really hard, and the difference in difficulty betwit the two was minimal. FFTA was more creative with the classes and abilities. The stories weren't anything special in either of the games, although FFTA was more simplified than FFT.
Overall, FFTA wasn't quite as good as FFT, but is is not a poor follow up at all.

I can't wait for Final Fantasy 3(D), although I've only seen one screenshot of it.

I agree that some times, the battles were a little bit easy, but that didn't diminish from the fact that fft was a GREAT game. But after playing it, I wanted way more then the ffta they came out with. I wanted better graphics than the first, and also a revamped enigine to support more troops on the battle field, like mabye fifty for each side. now that would be one helluva fft!
Megalomania
Gah, no more FF.
FF1-6 were the only good ones.
NES and SNES all the way. Old school.

You can't exspect for FFTA to have had better graphics than FFT. FFTA was a uber sweet game what more can you want for a GBA game? The story is dumbed down because GBAs are have a larger player base with children. FFTA is easier because its a hndheld game, short bursts of fun while your on the train or something. I like them both but give the slight edge to FFT.
Yona
Agreed, but why didn't they try and make it a real fft, by adding perhaps 1 extra cartridge? that would have given them enough room to make as much storyline as they wanted, and perhaps more characters which is what every fft nut has been craving for years. I think ffta was like taking neverwinter nights and making Nwn advance... you just couldn't get a TRULY great nwn or fft game for that matter off the Game Boy Advance.they tried, but came up a little short. Fft for the Psp, now that i would play.
Cadetak
You have to remember the FFTA aand the GBA are portable devices so having two cartridges would just be more you had to carry and loose. Imagine if you lost the second cartridge?

I don't know what you guys mean by a "real fft" because i belive that ffta stayed true to the philosphy of the original. I agree the story was a little bland but its a portable nintendo game thats geared for a younger audience. When i first played FFt in the 5th grade i didnt understand a single part of the story.

There are alot of chracters in FFTA there just unlockable to play. If i were to score each of these games on a scale of i would give them both a nine. Yes FFT is better in most peoples opinion but FFTA was portable.

I agree a Tactics game for the PSP would be the best platform the Tactics series.

Thats the problem right there, they are going younger and younger. With the invent of a game like ffta you get it geared to a younger audience, and then bam, Final fantasy 14 comes out, with an entirely dumbed down plot and cut out characters, and you are wishing for the good ole days where you had to play the ff game through two or three time before you fully understood it.. now that is a game that is worthy of the final fantasy name.

i mean i know alot of people still struggling to understand FFX's plot blink.gif
Yona
Exactly.. er well, I understood ffx's plot, and fft was even a bit lacking in the story line, but I am hoping they come out with a new one on ps3 or something, with tons o character skins, downloadable mapsets and online co-op or versus play.
