I was looking at a missing persons web site the other day and I was thinking did some of these people dissapear in "mysterious or paranormal circumstances" So I looked intio it and found articles about people who dissapeared in such a way.For example a man in the late 1800s (i think) walking around the front of his carriage in full view of a passenger and just dissapeared. Or some dude in England (a while back) who was running tripped and fell and dissapeared mid fall as if he fell in to some kind of hole, and this too was in full view of friends. Anyway my point is does anyone know any sites, articles, books or threads here on the subjected because i am really intrested. Also has anyone experienced a "vanishing" by seeing it happen etc.
And just quickly what about people appearing out of nowhere i am intrested in that too

This is a fascinating subject indeed! I wonder if anybody can give me and (Jesspy of course) a link to that quite famous story of a man who suddenly appeared out of nowhere in the middle of 20th century New York dressed in 19th century clothes and looking highly bewildered. As far as I can recall he was spoken to by people and he didn't have any modern money on him. He said he was crossing a road in he 19th century when all at once he found himself in modern-day New York. I don't remember what happened to him but I think he died. I'll search for it again myself but I'd be grateful if anyone could come up with a link to the story. Lonecat

When I was at school aged about 14/15 me and my friend used to notice something weird about the area outside the school hall. We used to sit on chairs outside it in the entrance way on breaks. I've always been susceptable to static electricity, but those chairs used to zap me more frequently than anything else. Also, getting back on topic (sorry) we often used to watch pupis and teachers pass one set of windows outside the entrance way and not pass the other. They just used to walk past one and seem to vanish. There was just a path outside these windows. We used to think we imagined it...

PS I'm also interested in the New York link...

i heard something about the New York man but I cant remember where. I also heard of a guy found dead in a neighbourhood street in Ohio in the 70s or something. When they did the autopsy it showed he had died of injuries sustained by a large fall from a building or plane. The thing is the only buildings near him were onestory and planes and helicopters donot fly over the area. No one heard anything at the time not even a thump you would hear if someone hit the ground. Anyway he wasnt identified as he carried no ID but the police said his clothes seemed as though they were form the 1920s -1930s. He also wore a hair cut like the period. Police checked and the were no fancy dress parties going on in the area.

probably. Did you ever see the episode of CSI with the diver in the tree. That was cool he got picked up in one of those big buckets helicopters use to pick up water during fires. He was then dumped and he died of the fall or of the fire I cant remember wich.I think the guy I just talked about probably did fall out a plane or something or it is just a made up story. But there a few dis/appearances where it is unexplained.

OMG!! Yes I have heard of this!! When I was young (about 6th and 7th grade) I lived with my grandma and she had a ton of old fate magazines and "Strange but true" books. I came across a few articles about this and let me tell you, for about 2 years the idea scared the pants off me!! I was afraid to get up and walk to the bathroom without telling whoever was in the room that I loved them or what a great friend they were and so forth. As you can tell, I was very impressionable as a child. Well, as the years passed, I realized people thought I was crazy, so even though I still fear this phenomena, I dont make an issue about it, and I dont think about it all the time like I did when I was a kid. In fact, I think this is the first time I've thought of it in about 7 or so years! Now I'm gonna have nightmares!
Oh, and the one that frightened me most was right here in the USA. Supposedly a man was walking across a field, and just vanished into thin air. It was in full view of his children, wife and county judge( or some official, cant remember for sure but it seems like it was a judge). well, supposedly grass wouldnt grow in the spot, and his kids heard him screaming in agony from the spot he vanished.
Now, I cant tell you if this story is true, or if the phenomena is for real, but I am scared to death of it being true.
Also, something along the same lines to think about... I know this has happend to me, but have you ever dropped something, heard it hit the floor, go to pick it up and it wasnt there? I'm not talking about behind the fridge or in a knot of socks under the bed, I mean seriously not there. For that matter, have you ever come across something that you have no explanation for how it got there? Something you know you didnt buy or own and then you find it on a table or something... I think this is the same thing, just on a smaller scale.

Hehehe they never disappeared for good, but we never saw them reappear. We actually made a point of watching after the first few times. The windows started about a foot from the floor, so unless they'd crawled along the ground I've no idea... lol

hello again everybody i have found some articles from a set of encyclopiedia called The Unexplained i dont know if you have heard of it but dad said he got them from the newsagency over a course of two tears in the mid 80s. Anyhoo there is an article saying that Princess Caraboo (you might have seen the movie with selma somebody in it) turned up out of the blue spoke a weird language and did crazy sh#@! basically. A woman then claimed that the Princess was her daughter but considering the Princess was of a different race to the "mother" people found it hard to believe her. The princess then dissapeared shortly after without a trace. In 1914 a bewildered naked man was found wandering down High Street catham Kent england. He could not account forhimself and was declared insane and spent the rest of his life in a institution. Between 1920 and 1923 three people were found wandering in or near Romford, Essex. Non could say how they got there or who they were. Then there was sister Mary who was able to "teleport" to mexico from spain in 1620. These "missionary flights" helped Mary convert Jumano indians of Mexico. When the first offical missionary arrived ten years later they found most were already converted and they spoke of a sister Mary. The strange part about this is when she did dissapear no one missed her in fact she was gone for only an hour or two yet she managed to cross the atlantic ocean in that time. The is also john Oconner who was found naked and washed up on a beach in England 1978. He was finally Identified as a man who went missing in London. The mans wife said that he had felt tired and had gone upstairs to bed at about 8.30pm she went to bed at 9.30 but her husband was gone. She called the police but no trace was found. The police took a discription from the wife. The body of her husband was found washed up near Plymouth. He was naked and was found to have died 12 hours earlier. Yet John only went missing at about 9.00pm and the body was found at approx 9.30pm. In a half hour John was stripped drowned and washed ashore yet know one could account for decompostion rate or how even got there,

I vanished for over three hours in the 70's. My parents were about to call the police when I ran in shouting that I had seen a ufo.
I was only 5 minutes from my parents house and they would have seen me just by looking out the door and not only that if I had collapsed in the nieghbours drive-either my family, or my friend's family would have seen me.
I disappearred between the hours of half-six and ten. One person who saw the object in another part of town unfortunately passed away in a tornado either the same year or the following year.
I believe there are many inexplicable reasons for these disappearances and find it an interesting topic.

What are your thoughts on the "Picnic at Hanging Rock" mystery. Is it fact or fiction?
A group of school girls went missing Valentines day 1900. A novel was written about it. The movie "Picnic at Hanging rock" (1975) here is some details on the movie
hanging rock 1hanging rock 2I saw the movie and have read articles about it and for me its really hard to decide whether its Fact or Fiction. Its more then likely fiction but some details in just seem real
