there's no proof to back the story up...but it's very interesting indeed.

There's no proof to back any story that we know of up. That's why we are still here typing back and forth, because we are eager to finally know. It is just another Roswell. Something could have happened, and an alien ship actuall did fly over Europe. Or it could have just been some unknown US craft, that mixed with a little bit of eye-witness imagination, could have resulted in a UFO "incident", you won't know until someone comes out and says it, but even then noone would believe them because "they are crazy", and then they will be labelled with Bob Lazar, and dare i say, R.C. Hoagland...
Anyway... proof isn't proof anymore. Proof is seeing for yourself. That is why there are so many skeptics out there, you can't believe anything anymore without questioning it in one way or another...

My memory of this incident is a tad foggy, but I read it in a book a few years ago...this happened were exactly? Like were is Rendlesham forest?

It's near a retired airbase in England, I think it was called Bentwaters. I don't know that it's been officially debunked, though, as many of the witnesses were military personnel who would have known what they were looking at. Not quite a Roswell type, because it wasn't a ( ohmy.gif you can't say that on a family forum.)

So what do you think happened? There isn't really any "juice" to the story, so i was wondring if anyone still finds this incident, interesting.

yeah, me too at first...then i realised that it was military personelle that were the witnesses, which kinda changed my mind, because they would have known about something like that. Maybe though, some things are "TOP" secret...

There are many levels of clearance. Not many have the top ones.

I hope this link answers your question. It was a hoax to summarize...

"The bottom line is that, that was not a UFO it was a 1979 Plymouth Volare!" explains a bemused Conde.

That sounds like alien technology at it's finest:

"Rendlesham is a very magical place," says Brenda. "It's like a doorway opening to another dimension. We've seen ghostly things and mists"

So there ya go...that is about the best evidence I have seen that some people there are just all to willing to buy into the mood of the moment and accept things as true without trying to evaluate from a standpoint of logic and reasoning.

The fact that she thinks it is a "magical place" was the nail in the coffin for any credibility she might have possibly had.

Yes, it seems as though this has been debunked. But then, you have to wonder (well, i do), if this was a cover-up, and if so, why come out with it after 23 years (the incident happened in 1980, and the BBC explanation was dated 2003)? If this really was a practical joke, then why... alright, i could have done that all night ( grin2.gif ), what i am getting at is, we can't even believe that this was a hoax. Maybe it was , maybe it wasn't. How can you tell?
You can't rely on word-of-mouth anymore, for the obvious reasons, but how are we supposed to believe anything, when the same arguments can be used for both sides (both sides of view...skeptics, believers)? Maybe i'm just being paranoid... I don't know, but if someone understands what i mean, and agrees with me, let me know...
