Tales of ghosts and mysterious apparitions in pubs and are normally put down to alcohol-fuelled hallucinations from the drunken bore propping up the bar. But for one Birmingham hostelry, such sightings have become so commonplace that the landlord is adamant the building is haunted by at least two ghosts. Paul Walker, who runs Sheldon Hall, in Gressel Lane, Tile Cross, claims a recent photo exists that proves the haunting claims. "A few weeks ago there was a party in the family room and somebody took a group shot with an instant camera," said the 48-year-old father-of-two, who lives in the pub with his wife and teenage sons. "When the photo came out there was a clear image of a young girl standing in front of the group. "Before I saw the photo I was completely cynical about the rumours, a disbeliever about the pub and its history of ghosts, but this has completely converted me. People who come to visit are convinced that there is definitely some kind of presence."The original building dates from the 15th Century and was later extended. It was used for many years as a house for farm workers. The site, which used to have a moat, is also believed to have been used by Henry VIII as a hunting lodge.
