You should believe him. The reason a lot of people catch colds in the winter isn't really from the cold weather. It's because the windows are usually closed, which doesn't allow a lot of air to disperse germs. You have more of a chance of getting sick in that sort of environment.
Another thing, wash your hands frequently.

I mean, you don't see people sniffling in summer except from hayfever, which is something different to the flu. I've never had it in summer........
