Fujifilm says orbs are dust

When you take pictures using the flash, whitish round dots appear in various parts of the image.
There is always a certain amount of dust floating around in the air. You may have noticed this at the movies when you look up at the light coming from the movie projector and notice the bright sparks floating around in the beam.
In the same way, there are always dust particles floating around nearby when you take pictures with your camera.
When you use the flash, the light from the flash reflects off the dust particles and is sometimes captured in your shot.
Of course, dust particles very close to the camera are blurred since they are not in focus, but because they reflect the light more strongly than the more distant main subject of the shot, that reflected light can sometimes be captured by the camera and recorded on the resulting image as round white spots. So these dots are the blurred images of dust particles.
You can reproduce this problem relatively easily by taking a picture right after you put away goods that create a lot of dust, such as feather bedding.
In actual photography, this problem frequently arises in shots taken at construction sites, etc. It may also occur when it is raining or snowing. Compact cameras in which the flash and the lens are close together are particularly susceptible to this problem.

· Make the surroundings as bright as possible so that you can shoot without using the flash.
· If the flash is detachable, hold it away from the camera.
· Take the picture in a less dusty location.

So its actually been proven then, that it is light reflecting off dust that is being captured in the pics ?

What about Orbs that dart about and come in and out of focus, in and out of doors. Do they have an explanation for these?

Wow thats a huge piece of dust; how come the people taking the picture did not notice it.
That sounded sarcatic but I'm being serious.

These can be flying insects, particles of dust moving on air currents.

Dont even think!! you lot have never seen video footage on paranormal programes over the years that have given examples of these. Because if you have'nt you are either lying or you should'nt be here discussing this post.
Druss
WS you asked if they had an explantion for them, I gave you one.

Just because someone says that its believed that orbs are first manifestation of a ghost does not mean its true. Noone has yet proved it to be fact.

However I will admit not all orbs are explained away by bits of dust or insects

I am certainly not saying that Orbs exist, but what what I am saying is you cannot say that all Orbs can be attributed to dust particles. Because of the irregularity of the Orbs that have been taped over the years. To say they are simply dust particles is non scientific. Dust particles do not react like that in normal air or with a breeze around them. Please give me a better explanation of what causes this type of Orb which is caught on video.
Druss
Have a look at this Orb Movie
it lasts about 20 mins but it does give some explanations.

I believe in ghosts and spirits.. and I believe that they sometimes take form to where we can actually see them... but to be honest ... when it comes to "orbs".. I have never been convinced that they are anything other than lights or glares in pictures .. or nothing more than dust catching light when caught on video.... hmm.gif

Orbs are a very controversial item in the paranormal investigation field. The hard fact is that most, if not all

I dont know how I got this in here....shaun I was answering you but I must be tired..lolol
wacko.gif hello lovely

Do you know, until the emergence of the digital camera, I had never seen an orb. They seemed to have just increased since then...does make me wonder though. I think I will borrow my nephews old video camera and take a digi with me and see if I can spot anything different on the two. We have to be slightly skeptical though Shuan as is parapsychology is kind of scientific (psuedo science so to speak) then I suppose we will have to be able to replicate experiments to a degree. I think I will ask the letsbespooked psychics and see if they can help us out on this one!

Orbs will always be dust. Stop kidding yourself into believing they are ghosts or whatever. It's just foolish.

w00t.gif I just watched that orb movie....well that explains a lot, however Im just confused to why they say in the film about the use of a flsh as many of the photos i saw on flikr site in the xfiles group was taken outside during the day, but almost all of them look similar kind of like a pale blueyish color and was not your regular round shape....thanks for the movie i enjoyed it....jill x

I once took a photo of an orb using a standard 35mm camera without a flash during daylight hours. For the life of me, I can't find that photo anywhere.

My camera wasn't a digi camera.

Since, I have purchased a digi camera (polaroid) I haven't photographed any.

Also, I don't know what happened to my photo of the ghost dog taken with my 35mm camera.

Ahhh that explains those so called orbs in my picture of the WCG convention.I mean there was a huge crowd in this convention hall, doesn't feel like if ghost will appear there isn't it?

How do you explain human-like faces or even smokey figures in some photos?
