Unorthodox Thesis
Even though this is in the spirituality section, I would like the reader to listen to logical reasoning for a minute and actually ponder about what I am saying.

- Why do you ask people about christianity?
- Why do you answer people that ask about christianity?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These two questions seriously concern me because I am a church-going christian myself.
The importance is that when you ask someone about christainity, do you expect a real answer, or an opinion? Since when does christianity originate from us? If you have questions, read the Bible - the original text from where christianity began. If you have answers, then please do not make them up. This is a serious matter, wether you realize it or not. If one asks questions, what will that person believe? Will your opinions have any effect on what he/she believes afterwards? The source comes from the Bible, not from ordinary people today. The Bible is known to be a supernatural book. That is why it is the number one best selling book on the planet. It is supernatural related. It is not just a bunch of stories. It includes history, poetry, proverbs, prophecy, gospel, letters, biographies, geneologies and much much more. This book was not written by a bunch of ordinary people. They wrote because they were inspired by the Spirit of God. Even if you have the Spirit of God inside of you, most people would preffer to hear the words straight from the Bible, and not from someone who has a history of attemptive debunkery concerning Jesus, and a person who is an atheist. I support the Bible, and I believe that it is true. While most people do not understand the Bible, they will just have to come to the realization, that if they want answers, they cannot ask others, but rather they will have to find out for themselves from the Bible. So, I encourage everyone to use Bible scripture to back up your religious, christian related claims. People SHOULD not believe anyone who does not use original text to back up his claims. There is a Bible avaluble online; or if you just want to take your time and type, or if you are like me - who has a Bible software, you can copy and paste verses directly to and from. So, again, I encourage everyone to please, use your Bible to back up biblical statments. Okay? We're not going to believe YOU over the ancients. If you do not think that the ancients had any divine inspiration, and that they did not witness anything, then that is your free opinion.

There a few statements there I would take exception to, but as this is a 'sanctuary' forum, I'll refrain.

Good journey to you

Hi Norman,

A lot of people, myself included, value personal experience. If I were interested in joining a Christian community, you gotta know I'd be asking folks what they thought and felt about the faith. I personally don't center my knowledge of the world and of reality in books. Submission to a book, no matter what book it is, seems a little unhealthy to me.

There are all kinds of rules and customs in the Bible that are limited to the culture they were created for. There's a lot in the Bible, therefore, that has to be interpreted by real live people; so again, I'm gonna want to know what those people think and feel right now.

If I want Biblical text, I'll read the Book; but if I ask you about your faith, I want to hear it in your own words, know what I mean?

In our current social climate, it seems that people's priority in religion has shifted slightly. No longer do people think so much about the afterlife. When they look at religion, they think "What can this religion do for me".

While I understand what you are saying, I do not perhaps think that overloading our posts with Bible passages is the way to go about things. Most here wouldn't even read them anyway.
