Careful consideration as to which forum to post this in, but probably still got it wrong! disgust.gif

Ok, so what are Grimoires? Do they exsist? Which religion are they from? Are there any sites where i can find this information?

Is it true that they contain information on Demons? Don't worry, i'm not trying to contact any Demons, its all for research purposes! innocent.gif

The name "Grimoire" is derived from the word "Grammar". A grammar is a description of a set of symbols and how to combine them to create well-formed sentences.

A Grimoire is, appropriately enough, a description of a set of magickal symbols and how to combine them properly.

The term commonly serves as an alternative name for a spell book or tome of magical knowledge, particularly in fantasy fiction.

A Grimoire is generally a book of magical knowledge. Some people call them Tomes.

I am sorry if i've put this in the wrong place, like i said in my first post.

The thing is that as i know nothing about Grimoires i don't know where the post should go. I figured they could be counted as legends. sad.gif

So Grimoires don't contain information about Demons in them? I'm sure i heard that they were some kind of summning tool, containing information on how to cantact various Demons. Though quite what you could gain from summoning a demon is beyond me... devil.gif Anyone know the answer to that?

Like witch's grimoire? They may have spells or info about nature within them.

It has been asserted that demons communicate with humans through the use of for example a Ouija board. This is a minority viewpoint on the subject, though these people assert that demonic possession is possible in this way. The most common explanation is that the Ouija board's users move the game's planchette with their hands (consciously or unconsciously) and only appear to be communicating with spirits.

Thanks for the link Hazzard, its v interesting.

This idea i have of Grimoires being aids for summoning Demons comes from something i once heard about, Some kind of book made by Solomon. Doesn't it contain information on Demons? Like an Enciclopedia (sp) What they do, and how you can contact them?

As my source on this information has come from a slightly eccentric friend i appologise if its complete rubbish.

So, if Demons can't be contacted by a Grimoire, how can you do it? (Apart from ouija boards?) Would it be possible to summon a Demon using some kind of powerful Dark magic? If you were able to do this, Why? To posess someone? Could a Demon be used to carry out some terrible crime?

I don't really want to know about how real or not this subject is, As i keep saying, i'm researching and so i'm interested in old Myths and legends and ideas. yes.gif

Grimoires are witchcraft books alright but the word does not derive from grammar. It means "manual" or "intex" for recipes and spells.

I still think that Ancient mysteries or the Ghost - Paranormal forum are a more appropriate place for this.

A grimoire is a book of magical knowledge written between the late-medieval period and the 18th century.

The word grimoire is from the Old French gramaire, and is from the same root as the word grammar.

Bio-mage a suggestion... please just report a thread if you see a problem with it, rather than post like that and crapping it by making a big deal out of nothing. Leave the moderating to the moderators please.
