I have been on a quest to find a religion that I feel comfortable with. I have studied everything from Buddhism to Wicca and have found that I can't come to terms with any of them.
I thought that Deism was what I came closest to in my beliefs but I happened to stumble upon Spiritualism and am very excited to find a religion that offeres a realistic look at the afterlife.
I'm very new to this path and am still skeptica so if anyone here has heard weird/bad things about spiritualism (like they try to take all yout money) please give me your input.
Thanks! grin2.gif

Could you elaborate on why sprititualism appeals to you, but others don't?
Could you define spiritualism a little better?

don't have much time to go into detail, but you should find a church of spiritualism and try it for yourself. I also feel comfortable with the beliefs thumbsup.gif

clap.gif i agree with you. ive just started meditating and reading about spirituality for a few months. just stared reading a ritual magick book. i suggest taking dmt. if in the right mindset, it is truly a great spiritual experience. here is a quote from the band TOOL that helps me out alot. "ritual magick is a system of disciplines and excercies aimed at activating parts of the mind we might normally never use (about 85%). through this system a better understanding of ourselves is attained. no TRUE ritual magician has ever sacrificed life, drank goat's blood, or taken part in any other stupid urban legend ritual. this sort of behavior is left to the psychotic. dogmatic. fundalmentalist believers you see on your T.V. everyday letting off bombs and killing people in the name of god. BELIEFS are DANGEROUS, beliefs allow the mind to stop functioning. A non-functioning mind is clinically dead. BELIEVE IN NOTHING........."
i had to read it a few times but i have to say that quote and the band TOOL is very very inspirational.

Any organized religion is going to want to take as much of your money as they can.

Why be concerned with 'afterlife'? The time is NOW. original.gif

Research and experiance! That is the key dear. I agree... go to a spiritualist church.. talk to those there and see if that is what you feel akin to.

I once bought a pair of new shoes but found that they hurt my feet...

I bought another pair but they hurt my feet also....

And then I realised that I found it far more comfortable to walk without shoes.

Don't know much about it, especially not after the early 1900's, but it does seem like the modern approach to religion. I say this because blind faith seems to be, or have been, avoided to a certain degree. Basically don't know much about it.

A comment for the proponents of solo practice of (blank) spirituality: it's great to be independant and not make any comprimises in your beliefs, but there seems to be something to be gained from practicing spirituality in a group. When joining a larger group, one will often lose the purity of their belief/spirituality/don't know the word, but will gain in potency or power. I draw on things such as parapsychology, the PK parties of Jack Houck, and pretty much all the spiritual documents (not that many) that I've seen that discuss the topic.
Good luck, and do be careful, not paranoid.

Try walking without shoes when the road is paved with glass. original.gif

The question then is do you want to be strong disgust.gif or comfortable... happy.gif

Why suggest to someone that they take DMT without explaining what it is and what it allegedly does to you?

Perhaps the idea to read more and gather further knowledge should be suggested before promoting DMT to a complete stranger.

The point is that when the going gets extremely tough religion is a nice pair of shoes.

I thought DMT was available by presciption from a Phychiatrist only. But, yeah, who in their right mind would suggest that anyone take any drug for a 'spiritual' high. The Acid Movement is over...thank God.

NatureGirl
Ok...
Miller: I don't remember posting anything about Magic. And I have no clue what DMT is. Anyway if you nned to take drugs to be spiritual then thats just sad.
And about those shoes...
Wouldn't it just have been better to say " Hey! You don't need religion!" instead of being pseudo zen with your analogies.
Shoes are quite the must have for me.
I don't have time to go into depth about spiritualism right now but I think I will check out one of their churches. I haven't been to a church since I was a wee one though. Its gonna fell weird.

i personally dont see why you have to follow an organized religion to be spiritually happy. Just follow your heart...

But thats just my opinion, not saying yours is wrong
