This is an experience that I have stored away in my memories for the past 14 or so years and have tried to explain away in some sort of "rational", or more specifically scientific way. About a year ago I began to read about things (string theory included) which made me believe in life after death and other bizarre seeming phenomena to exist.

when I was 7 or so, I awoke one night and saw a figure at the base of my bed. It was impossible for this to have been solid as the foot of my bed connected to a beareau. The next morning I described it as being "frankenstein" because it seemed to have something like large, possibly whitish, ear rings (similiar to frankie's screws) and I wanted people to think it was just a dream, not me being truly crazy. The figure was just nodding slowly, so far as I can recall. While I'm not sure whether or not I specifically got a bad feeling about the figure, I was a bit of a wus in my younger years so this "hallucination" was enough to get me to bolted out of bed to go see my parents. That was the last I saw of this vision which I now believe to have had the appearance of an old woman.

As I ran down the stairs towards my parents room, I saw somewhere between 8 and 12 (probably nine if I had to guess) orbs floating around. I remember these orbs as being dark blue and green, nothing all that bright to my memory. That night and the next morning I described them as being antique bottles floating in bubbles, as the luminescence (spelling??) of such bottles was the only thing that would describe the shimmering of these orbs. I've recently wondered if they actually were depictions of funerary flasks, but I can't figure it out if I actually saw shimmering globes of light or bottles as it was so long ago. I was still able to see these while in my parents bed, but I don't believe either of them could. It might be worth noting that my parents were somewhat active spiritually around and before that time, so they weren't totally "out of tune". I did not, to my recollection see these globes untill I left my room, and the presence of the initial figure. I was scared of them simply because I considered them hallucinations, but again didn't get a malicious vibe frome them.

An event which might be tied in with this was that I was actually involved with an excavation of an old indian site in Williston (north) Vermont (all I remember is that we found some pottery, don't know what kind of site it was, and I doubt they did either). This excavation was only being done because my school was required to before building a new soccer field, and I was one of three or so from my grade to participate. Were they not cheap, the excavation surely would've involved people more qualified than 3rd graders!!

I was an EXTREMELY heavy sleeper at the time and was able to sleep through a buzzer that was placed next to my ear, that woke my mom who was all the way down a flight of stairs. I'm not one to suffer from nightmares too often, but I do remember one from that time period with a certain visceral reaction. All I remember was hearing something like a car engine at high RPMs, and when the RPMs got higher I underwent immense pain and screamed. Slightly later in life I went through a phase of frequently waking up sleeping with my feet where my head normally lay.

That should be more than enough information, hopefully ppl can help with ideas about what that was all about grin2.gif

I'm not sure what I can tell you about the orbs and the old women standing at the foot of your bed.

I can tell you though that waking up with your feet being where your head is suppose to be is pretty normal. At least in my point of view. I've done it, my boyfriend has done it, my little brother and now my two year old son. Even though we are a sleep doesn't mean me lay completely still. We, still move around and stuff. I don't know much more about the whole sleep thing but that's what I feel, that happening to you is pretty normal.

I hope someone can answer the rest of your questions.

When people start becoming interested in the Paranormal, they usually seem more likely to see a ghost than non-believers.

I wasn't interested in ghosts at the time. I was seven years old and interested in soccer and doodling. I was never scared of the dark (only tornados, don''t know why) and didn't have any other experiences that made me think about ghosts as anything other than silly and childish. That's why it took me over ten years to consider it as likely being more than a hallucination.

On the off chance that someone is interested, I have explained away the most easily explainable part of my post to my satisfaction. I played an old driving video game the other day and recognized the sound of the engine (distinctly late 80's low quality) and I'm pretty sure it was the same game I occasionally played around the time of the nightmare. So basically the nightmare, though visceral, is unrelated to my more peculiar experiences.

Take my sugestion,

Stop visiting and reading paranormal websites for a few days and things will get back to normal. It is all in your mind and nothign else. If there was really something going on, i suggest be careful and start avoiding. As demons start disturbing you before a possession and it is in this initial stages if you ignore them, they go away.

I've mentioned this in another post, but it relates to this. When I saw my first ghost I didn't even know what they were. I was 4 or 5 and I insisted to my mum that Jesus was sitting on the sideboard. I still remember it vividly. The torso head and arms of a bearded shadowy figure were visible above the sideboard, it looked just like they were sitting on it, but I feel looking back the sideboard masked the lower half. As I didn't have any other thing to go on for mysterious figures appearing where they shouldn't I assumed it was Jesus. It stayed there for enough time for me to annoy mum by insisting it was there even though neither she nor my dad could see it.

Out of curiousity, when you say "shadowy figure" could you describe as accurately as possibly what features you could make out (even if you can't exactly still describe them). For example, were his eyes and eyebrows discernable, and if they were, was it to the point of being able to see their color?
