If I didn't know any better I would say it sounds like you aren't entitled to your opinion hyper. You can dismiss other peoples truth if you want buddy, I'll back you up. thumbsup.gif

i said the objective is to discover the truth. now where in me saying we should be working to discover the truth does it imply i have "the truth".

Did i say i was not biased? Nobody is completely unbiased. What is the point of this line of discussion? happy.gif

I don't hold to any hard and fast "truths". That is what is so funny about you claiming i am doing so. thumbsup.gif yes.gif

cheers, 4 of 11. grin2.gif

You don't know any better then. hmm.gif

hyper is certainly entitled to his opinions & his truths, just as I am mine. Just becasue I don't agree with the motive he stated as the reason to seek truth, doen't mean much, other than I don't agree with him.

Really!

I could have sworn this is what you said -

the objective is to discover "the truth" so we can put all the subjective, pranormal, superstitious explanations behind us!

Hmmm, seems to have alot more words in it than what you just said. Perhaps you didn't mean it that way?

I don't always agree with him either but I will stand up for him to aknowledge his truth as I would yours.

hey knot, "4 of 11" is not meant as an insult, but as a lighthearted way of showing you something.

I don't subscribe to the single answer methodologies for more complex problems. So, when you consider what i said about the limitations of man preventing "knowing it all", then you see that multiple perspectives are equally valid, and in fact are necessary to maintian a healthy persuit of understanding what is "unknown".

The objective of all should be to uncover the truth, of course whether or not people accept the truth uncovered is another issue entirely and all are welcome to believe what they want, unless of course you do have an agenda for a drone-nation. thumbsup.gif

I look for truth all the time, try to be as objective as I can, matter of fact being objective is sometimes more important than the truth..., and if I feel I find it I'll certainly tell anyone what I believe to be true that cares to listen. But, it is selfish...I tell them so they can understand me better, not so they know the truth. thumbsup.gif

Truth is IMHO subjective to the individual and reamins truth as long as they use it in a manner to help themselves understand things around them. Soon as you try selling your truth to another...Well, starts to turn into something else I think, as inevitably someone will capitalize on it to take advantage of others.

A "drone-nation"? Isn't that what we already are? I'm not christian, athiest, republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, etc... I'm me, and that is the truth as far as I know! grin2.gif

and there you have it!

i only seek for people to think for themselves. I would much prefer to have someone disagree with me because they arrived at a position on their own than have someone agree with me because something "told them to".

as for truth, it is both subjective and objective. It is always fleeting. "truth" can either be held safely in the hand the way one might hold a bird, but it is not nearly as spectacular as letting the bird fly. greater truths are just what a group have agreed upon, and nothing more. It is the process that is important, not the result so much (philosophically speaking).

the 'drone nation' is what i stand against.
