user posted image rGhost show Most Haunted has been cleared of fraud by TV watchdog Ofcom, following complaints of deception. Viewers complained that the Living TV show, featuring "psychic" Derek Acorah, deceived the public by claiming to find evidence of paranormal activity. But Ofcom ruled that Most Haunted was an entertainment show, not a legitimate investigation into the paranormal, and should not be taken seriously. Most Haunted, presented by Yvette Fielding, is now in its sixth series. Spin-off show Most Haunted Live was also investigated, following the complaints. Ofcom ruled that the TV show contains "a high degree of showmanship that puts it beyond what we believe to be a generally accepted understanding of what comprises a legitimate investigation". "On balance, we consider that overall Most Haunted/Most Haunted Live should be taken to be a programme produced for entertainment purposes.

"This is despite what appear to be occasional assertions by the programme that what viewers are witnessing is real." "As such this programme should be seen in the light of shows where techniques are used which mean the audience is not necessarily in full possession of the facts."

What a joke...I wonder if they ought to place a warning at the begining of the show explaining that they are just entertainment and not to be taken seriously...

..maybe that would help people understand.

Something tells me ghosts aren't too ready to star on weekly television series. Just a thought. rolleyes.gif

I thought that was fairly obvious. That's why I never really take such programmes seriously. They do kind of interest me when they find what appears to be paranormal activity but in most of the cases it's very easy to fake them.
It's just there to provide entertainment for viewers and a bit of a buzz for the people who actually go to the "haunted" locations on camera. It's like when we would dare each other to go to the bottom of the garden alone at night when we were kids.

What I want to know is, when will a 'serious' show for the paranormal pop up? One that isnt' just based on money and entertainment? Perhaps one that has no psychics, simply researchers who care about what they're doing?
With that, I'm almost certain the world (Or at least, my picky opinion about ghost shows) would be a better place.

Since all ghost sightings are periodic at best, a complete show would probably be impossible to make with out TV magic included. A lot of investigations turn up nothing.

^^ Ghost Hunters. it airs 13 episodes at a time on the sci-fi channel. from what i've seen it's realistic. most of their investigations don't actually come up with anything, but there are a few really good ones. No mediums, or apparent acting. it makes all other ghost shows look kinda babyish. They use real science and try their damnedest to disproove anything they catch on camera. Just type T.A.P.S into your search bar and you should come up with their site. They've been a group since, *i believe* 1997, but sci-fi only picked them up in 2004.

Granted I avoid this show like the plague, but I could have sworn they do have a disclaimer...claiming everything on it is real.

ha, i hav met people who thinks everything on the show is real and they think they are 'cool' to watch it.... but i thought it would be an obvious fact that not everything on tv is real....
in fact, a more popular tv programme will be proving why the show is made up.... but it would disappoint all the kids out there
