I agree...the kind one would find on the front of a science fantasy book...

hmmm.... very interesting, but most likely fictional.... however....
if you note the fairy ring surrounding the feline, (which I think is cute), the picture suggests that is a guardian to the fairies, or the forest.
Puzzling that it seems to be a fire elemental-type creature when most forestian fairies would typically correspond with earth elements.... It seems that it doesn't belong in its settings, so a more depressing interpretation is that the fairy ring is keeping the poor thing in.
Either way, it's a nice piece or artwork.

Hmm... People want to believe way to much... I'm not saying the UFO's/Supernatrual stuff doesn't exist, but it isn't the answer to everything. It's probably just a painting from an artistic/crazy person.
I had a dream I was playing video games... and then it happened! I must be psychic!
Anyway, point-being: look at things cynically.
It's a cool picture though.

I dont if Im the first one that thought of this, but I think its a concept of the Jersey Devil. Why? The ring of mushrooms. I could be mistaken, but I think the Jersey Devil is rumored to appear in rings of mushrooms or around those areas.

Perhaps it is the artist's way of exaggerating or distorting the image as a means of creating original artwork.
First, the color is red and the exposed fangs make it seem vicious or devil-ish. Secondly, the ears are drawn to a point to signify horns. The mushrooms surrounding the cat probably symbolize some sort of ritual or "protection" perhaps.
Also the colors are rather vibrant. It appears that the entire work was constructed in a fairy tale type of manner. Just a piece of art. I seriously doubt that this is supposed to depict some live creature running around a forest somewhere on the planet.
Cool tho'.
