Aho my friend!
It is true that the Little People do live in the tree trunks, logs and fields. Too smal to see unless your really looking for them. They are like fairies. They are tricky little varmits at times and yet loving. I am Native American and know that there are these myths and legends but ^IS IT JUST THAT^?????
When I was small, I would sit by the water and I would hear a small sound like giggling. I did check this out and amazingly, saw these tiny little people.
Oh yes, and no I am not crazy. I called them, "Nanyehi. That is our word for Litttle People.
No they aren't midgets or nomes etc. I always went to the same place in my times of troubles. They were always there for me. I know it sounds a bit odd but they helped me through the hardest times of my life. So, if you ever see a rustling in the weeds and wonder what it is...well just remember.....The next step could end a life...

The Yuri of the Australian Outback who are little hairy people who use fire and are reminiscent of the recently discovered 'Hobbits' of Flores' Island. The Wemategun'isuk and NoX'kumi of my own people ( the Nanticoke) who answer as a fellow hunter and lead you astray in the woods and cedar swamps.

In our area too, the people still claim to see small small people. They travel along rapids and live under rocks. Supposed to be real bad too. This woman who was in our community this past summer for a workshop, told my dad about when she was a little girl and these little people came into the house through the vents in the floor. They seemed to be playing some kind of game, then they went back out. She told her dad and she got a good scolding for it, he had to block up all the vents and windows for awhile. My dad has some stories of these little people too. He said his grandmother once told him that people from when she was young chased a bunch of them into this big dry stump and set it on fire. They apparently have no noses, real flat faces. and are "sharp" as he put it. There clothing is covered in spikey things, like porcupine quills. Rapid Lake indians still see these things every year.
Proud member of the Algonquin people.

When I was a kid I used to see little,2 foot tall, ugly little men with dark skin and robes running about in my back garden.I was only about 5 or 6 I think and wasnt really scared of them.I just thought they were garden sprite type people,I had no interest in UFOs and stuff back then and wasnt daydreaming.
I have no idea what they were, but they looked like the little helpers from that film Communion.[attachmentid=21505]

there are legends of small people and giant people in the mythology of every culture and there is now evidence to prove they really did exist. The best evidence for the existance of a race of giants is in south and north america - particularly north america.
you only need to ask google and you will see hundreds of stories pictures and scientific evidence.

http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/s1229596.htm it was on the news and everything---hobbits they called them,,,,,but i don't think these tiny humans don't look as creepy as that picture you saw,,,naw, not good old, harmless Homo floresiensis

I am under the impression that's what the 'Duende' in the Phillipines are. But the 'Duende' or 'Didi' in Central and South America are probably 'Oreopithicus' which were "flatfaced" and sometimes bipedal.

I'm sure small and big people were around in mythology, key word there myth. It's nice to have stories to tell around a campfire about little fairies and the sort, much like the snipe "for all you hunters".

Although I have never personally sighted a Little Person, I do know they exist. The legends are too prolific to be mere chance. I have written on this and the Nephilim or Giants at my own website,
The August Mystery Project. There is ample evidence to support the fact that both Little People and Nephilim roamed the earth in times past. Whether they have survived in present times I never really considered until reading eye-witness accounts on this site. It is fascinating to me that so many intelligent species could remain unknown by us for so long.

Not really on topic here but... when my daughter was younger, she is only 9 now, she was intrigued by the little people and she and I sat for hours at a time on the computer looking for the little people on web cams that had been placed around various locations in Ireland.

There used to be a story about my neighborhood (I live in West Nashville, Tennessee) that before "regular" people inhabited the neighborhood, little people inhabited it. They were called "trolls." Ive been searching for any kind of info on this but I cant seem to find any. Anyway..just thought it was interesting.

do you think these are just hold overs from our Pangea years?

While talking a course in Folklore in college I had the pleasure of meeting a shaman from OK. This guy was full of knowledge and convinced all of us that there are such things as "little people". He actually seen some on a couple occassions.

Any chance of seeing one on Long Island. I live right next to 500 acres of woods if that helps.
I wish I could really believe in "gnome" like creatures in the magical sense but my common sense instinct is giving me a hard time.

Generally small people are in fact a species of human that exist in other dimensions. They also have their own races of people just as we have different races and cultures.
However these days they don't really interact that much with us in cities.
